This team would be nuts to draft a freaking LB as the 4th overall pick!!.I like Jack but in no way is he worth the 4th pick,he is not even the best LB in the draft and he has ton of question marks.

So if he is a Day One starter and perennial Pro Bowler with 5 INTs a year, that still wouldn't be enough to warrant a 4th round pick?

The huge difference is Luke played with a torn labrum, and Davis played with a broken arm. Don't forget about those types of things!!!

But Luke missed 3 games with a concussion. What a wuss.

I'm just going to go out on a limb and say this is the norm for most positions. Maybe not "retired" but certainly that many of the first round players can be viewed as busts and not living up to their draft spot.

There is a difference between "i like(dislike) player a" and "theyre stupid if they get(pass on) player a". Does anyone here understand that? Anyone? No? Fair enough.

That is a big thing.

They would be more snaps because they would be better players, in general not in all cases, and part of being a better player in Football and LB is giving it 100% and throwing caution to the wind which can result in more injuries especially when you are going against RBs that sometimes have a head of steam, Sometimes going against TE's that are bigger and of course working through blocks of OLinemen to get in the backfield.

I hope the moral of the story is not to pass up on good LBs and only take mediocre to crappy LBs in the draft at lower spots so they can stay healthy longer in the NFL even if that means they don't get as much snaps and do not create as much impact.

Your missing the point. There isn't a correlation between first round linebackers and injuries. It's that all linebackers are banged up and here's a sample from 2007-2014 of linebackers drafted in the first round to prove it.

Linebackers get hurt about as often as RBs do. It's why we've seen a decrease in RB value in the draft.

Well, the good thing about Jack is he's already shown his propensity to make business decisions so maybe that means he'll last longer?!

IMHO, there's just as good a chance we draft Joey Bosa or Jalen Ramsey as Myles Jack. Any one of them, if successful, could do wonders for our defense. There's no guarantees with anyone.

Are we trending to LB's have same NFL shelf life as RB's?

Seems like it. Everybody's bigger, faster, and stronger, but I haven't heard of any improvement in our joints. Linebackers especially remind me of dogs that run into parked cars...... over and over again.

What we need is solid depth so we don't see too much bad play when Ro and Lee go down, you don't need to invest the 499th pick for that and remember we have 2 LBs from the last draft.
