I think you need to wait until Hudson Houck gets to TC and we see how Kosar is doing. Houck should be able to help him improve.

If he does, we've got an upgrade without having to go out and pay for one or spend a high draft pick.

We'll see.

Actually Proctor filled in for Gurode in 2 games (Panthers & Commanders). Breer's analysis of Proctor's play: Proctor couldn't clean the pocket for Romo as Gurode was able to do (directed traffic around Romo so he'd have room to move around) & had a very tough time against those big DTs. Now it was first time Proctor played in a regular season game so he could improve, but admit I was very surprised we didn't draft a OG/C both to challenge Kosier but also as insurance if Gurode goes down again. Wouln't be surprised if Cowboys give McQuistan snaps at OG as insurance in case either OG goes down and/or Proctor filling in for Gurode, or as legit challenge to Kosier. OTOH, they might try Marten at OG if he doesn't look good at OT; Marten (as did McQuistan) played lot of OG in college.

Kosier's solid and rarely gets blown up. He's definitely not below average. Not sure why we didn't bring in one of the two UDFA guards, though (Felton or Young). And the only guard worth a pick in the draft went before our 1st pick.

Maybe there are plans to move Marten to Koiser's spot and have Free take over for Columbo.

I doubt there are any plans to have Free play RT.

The thing though is Procter came in as the center.

He had a lot of responsibilities for a guy who is a guard and hasnt played in a regular season game.

Parcells had a lot of high praise for the guy too and he is young.

I think he has an outside shot at starting one day for us.

Kosier is a solid player though. He doesn't hurt us and he can make some blocks in space.

It's one thing to struggle with the mental aspects of calling the line as a center and it's another to struggle at blocking as a center, which is considered an easier position than guard (in terms of blocking).

Parcells's praise and a quarter won't even get you a cup of coffee.

It's the only way he sees the field any time soon.
He has a better chance seeing the field sooner at LT than RT. And that includes the possibility that Colombo is gone after this season.

If our left guard is the only "serious" problem on our team--I am happy!
