I am not the happiest people at this moment in regards to our coaching position. I will form an oppinion of weather or not I would have wanted Parcells here AFTER we sign our next HC. As far as Im concerned, Parcells is still a top 10 coach in this league (he took his team to the final 12).

Regardless of what happened on the field the past 4 years, I don't think anyone on this board can have a straight face and tell me this team is not miles better than it has been in years, and the foundation is in place.

QB - Romo, looks like we have a keeper.
RB - Barber and Jones are a good RB tandem. Did we expect greater things out of Jones after his rookie year, yes. But let's see from here on out if Parcells really did "overcoach" him.
WR - T.O. probably was not soemthing that Parcells pursused whole heartedly, but he's on the team, and the offense is better off with him than without him. Glenn was brought in for a 6th rounder, and I would say he was worth the money. Factor in that we have brought in Crayton, Hurd, and Austin as young guys, and you can't say Parcells hasn't added depth to this position.
TEWitten in teh 3rd round was simply brilliant. We've got this position shored up for a while. I'm still doubting the Fasano pick, but who knows how that could turn out.
OLThough this spot has been area of concern throughout Parcells tenure, you have to put the failure to really shore this unit up more on bad luck than on neglect. Rivera was not supposed to play this badly. His 2 draft picks Peterman and Rogers could have panned out and changed alot. On the plus side, he has Gurode playing up to his potential, and may finally have found us a starting quality RT in Marc Colombo.
DLIf Canty gets back on track, and we really have something in Hatcher, Parcells really has helped the D. Spears needs to get himself going for his 3rd year. The addition of Ferguson is huge regardless of what scheme we employ next year.
LBThe jury is out on Carpenter at this point. Ware looks like he will be a force for some time, regardless of system. James looked really solid last year, and lost anytime teams threw on us this year. Aydole was a solid contributer. Still waiting on Burnett. I guess we'll see how this unit pans out.
secondaryI think you can give Pareclls some fault for not shoring up the FS spot. But overall, he's added alot of talent to the secondary. Aaron Glenn, and even Anthony Henry have been stout more oftehn than not.
Special TeamsMcBriar is a Parcells find. I don't think you can blame him for the piss poor play of Vanderjagt, or any of the kickers last year. Skyler Green may be a stain on Parcells work here in Dallas, but overall, he's done quite well with other guys he's brought in, especially at the KR spot.

Top to bottom this roster is better than it was before Parcells arrival. If anything, he has laid the groundwork for a succesful team for years to come. His gameday strategies may have failed him in this day and age, but he still is a solid talent evaluator.

I can guarantee that our next coach will retain many more of the players on this roster than Bill retained when he inherited the team. Because as much as we liek to harp on some of the guys we have, all of them probably deserve a place on an NFL roster, wheras many of the guys we had during the Campo years (yes I'll give him teh benefit of the doubt because of the cap strapped times) are no longer playing in this league.

Thanks for the roster coach Parcells. And other than that, nice life, and dont gamble all of Jerry's money away.

Yeah I know we didn't do what I thought we would when we signed Parcells on, but the years 2000-2002 were the real dark days. Hell, we had no direction, no players and were starting, gasp Chad Hutchinson at QB.

We were rarely on national tv except for the the guaranteed Sunday Night and US Thanksgiving games.

Now, since Parcells was here, the team is better, might have not accomplished much but we are better. Players are better, fans more enthusiastic and we are talked about again (not as a topic of derision either).

Parcells stopped the downward slide and got us back on the road to prominence (kind of like what he did to the Patriots in the 1990s).

He might not have won big with us, but he stopped the bleeding and turned us around.

For that I will always be grateful.

Adieu.
While that is true, he did not return us to the promise land. The level of which he was outcoached each week offsets the successes he had here. Ultimately his tenure here will be considered a failure. Turned around the team? Yes. Won even one playoff game? Please.

Outcoached, please. Even Newman stated the players did not execute.

I think we could have accomplished so much more had it not been for 2003. 2003 ruined everything, IMO. We didn't undertake that complete overhaul that was absolutely necessary until two years too late.

I agree with that. In my mind, Parcells saw a few things with that 2003 team.

Quincy Carter, IMO, probably could have developed into a good enough player, and we still probably would have had Romo aboard. I honestly think that Parcells saw enough in QC that 1st year to think he could be his guy (but not enough to where he would put up with his shenanigans).

Troy Hambrick was out of here regardless. Otherwise you don't sign Adrian Murrel off his *** to see if you might just have something. So I don't think that the 10-6 season had much impact on this position.

I trully think that Parcells thought that Antonio Bryant could be controlled. You have to believe that, because talent wise, Bryant was a great player, and a great prospect. He's had to deal with headcase type guys, but after the jersey incident, and the lack of effort, Pareclls had enough. I think this was a guy he was probably counting on who let him down very early on.

Defensively, Parcells went with what he had always used succesfully, the 3-4. In retrospect, that was probably another blunder on his part. Sure he knew very well what he liked, but it caused us to get rid of many of our more talented players. La'Roi Glover, Dat Nguyen, Dexter Coakley, moving Ellis out of his natural position. I mean, if there were any guys on this team that actually deserved to be playing in this league, it was those guys. Parcells personal preference of things led him to have to replace guys who were good. He created alot of needs that wouldn't have been needs if he had stuck with the 4-3. Alot of resources were put into revamping a part of the team that actually was its strong suit.

You still could have stuck with getting a guy like Ware, and using Ferguson's money on somebody else to play the 4-3 nose.

Kudos to a coach who was barely above 500 exemplifies how far the franchise had fallen. No one else would've been given this type of a pass for being mediocre. Just because folks have different opinions doesn't make them trolls.

If Bill can get a pass for establishing mediocrity....then give me one for being unimpressed with his tenure and very glad that he's gone.

Thanks to Parcells, our fans will never realize how close to being the Detroit Lions or Arizona Cardinals this franchise really was in 2002. We get to complain about so called "mediocrity" of 9-7 with an extremely young team and a promising young QB in the wings. Not 2-14 with a 34 year old Dexter Coakly working on year 3 of Jerry's Drew Henson project.

Yes, if you look at the Wins and Loss column, Parcells was a total failure. I don't think anyone is arguing with you guys that Parcells did not live up to expectations.

But ignoring the bigger picture of his tenure and continually coming back to his close to .500 record gets you no where. Did we all expect a SB after 3 or 4 years of Parcells? Of course. But at the same time, we should be glad we are among the top teams in the league again, rahter than continually sitting in the top 10 at the draft, scratching our heads with one hand, while we are sitting on with our other hand under our *** wtih our thumb up our butt wondering why Kavika Pittman and Ebanezer Ekuban aren't the next Charles Haley.

Chicken Little "The sky is falling!" :lmao2:

The roster is light years better than it was before he became our HC. The next HC will have a much easier go of it that BP ever had.
