Roy Williams is a really good receiver. From what I can see he runs pretty good routes, has good jumping ability, and fairly soft hands. But he is far from a burner. He isnt really going to get behind anyone in the secondary.

Are you sure about that? I think Roy has very good speed.

He's not slow, but he's not someone who can outrun coverage. I just think this offense needs someone who is explosive and can race into the endzone. Roy is a good WR, but that description just doesnt fit him. That's why I'm going back and forth if he'd be a good fit here.

I don't know where this RW is too slow stuff is coming from either. And for those who are concerned with TO being upset if we sign him....who cares? TO is at the end of the line, RW is at the starting block.........I would give the 28th for RW in a NY minute.

Way off NextGen there aren't a whole lot of receivers in the league that are faster than him. And there's more than PURE speed that makes you a deep threat. The fact that he's big and strong helps him for one he can get off the line and once he's behind a db just a little even if the corner is a tad faster you aren't going to catch up fast. Now if you are some little 5'11" 185 receiver then being faster is more important..but RW is as fast as most guys that size that are NFL receivers anyway. RW is a perfect fit in any offense.

DeSean Jackson isn't a good fit in any offense on the other hand. CB's will push him to the ground off the line if he doesn't out quick them every time off the line then all the timing is off and he's out of the play.

When the Cowboys were winning their first two Super Bowls, Alvin Harper was the speed receiver. He was a 4.45 guy and Roy Williams has more talent in his pinky finger than Harper's whole body.

Who is concerned that TO will be upset if we trade for RW? That makes no sense. TO would be thrilled because it gives this team a better chance to win a Super Bowl. He'd still be our number one guy. TO has grown out of his selfish immature stage. He just wants to win a title, plain and simple.

Owens is not upset and freaking out because hes getting paid top dollar. If we were to get RW he wants more money than what Owens is making. Owens will not like making less money than RW. And his issues in Philly were all about money.

If we got RW and Pac-Man and still had a decent draft we would make last year's Patriots team look like a jr. high school team. The only way we wouldn't win it all is a serious rash of injuries.
But I am very concerned about the salary cap implications if we signed RW. In the next 12 months or so we would have to resign him, TO, TNew, Canty, Barber, Columbo, Hamlin, and probably DWare to new deals. Not even Jerry could make that work under the cap. Now, I would not be too concerned about losing Columbo or maybe even Hamlin, but I really don't want to lose anyone else on that list, which is a really likely scenario if we trade for RW.
I wonder if getting a talented Rookie to be our #2 wouldn't be the best bet. I'm not talking Jackson, but Hardy, Sweed, or Kelly if his knees are alright. I know it takes a rookie WR two or three years to get going, but with defenses focused on TO, Witten, and our improved running game, he would have every chance to shine. I know they aren't top notch speed guys, but they do remind me a bit of Harper, who was perfect complement to Irvin.

If they make a trade for RW, it will come with a new contract when the trade goes through. Signing TO and some of the others will actually free up cap space so it is possible to retain them all.

I hope you are right, but even with extending TO and the few other things we can do we I dont think we would be able to get Roy and keep Tnew and sign DWare to the monster contract that he is getting to get, along with all the others. But don't get me wrong I really hope you are right. I just dont see how that is possible.

I'm with the majority on Jackson: absolutely not interested. Roy is an enigma IMO. I live in Michigan and this guy does NOT run good routes. Martz was of that opinion and so am I. But that being said, he oozes with talent, and if someone like TO or Sherman helped him shore up his rout running ability...look the 'F' out.........all due respect Fuzzy, forget the contract. Let's win NOW.

Yep, he is a bit of an enigma. This guy has the talent to be THE BEST in my opinion. Coming down here for one will have him very motivated, and ya know playing with TO, he could definitely learn a thing or three.

I am the biggest TO fan out of anybody, but even i know if we sign Roy Williams that TO is going to want more money than Roy because hes quite simply better. We have money to sign Roy,TO,Newman,Ware,Barber?......please.

And i have a friend who lives in Detroit and said Roy was quoted as saying he was just collecting paychecks his first couple of years and thought the nfl was "easy". He also said he knows he doesn't do everything he can to be the best wide reciever he can be. Roy Williams is a joke just like the Roy Williams that we already have. Not to mention he talks a big game that he can't back up. PASS!
