Does anyone think it's feasible that besides one of the first round picks it might take one of the players that have been rumored on the trading block (Carpenter, Spears, Adoyle or Fasano) to get a deal done for Roy Williams?

It can be argued that ironically enough all those players fit a need for Detroit this off season and not only fit the Lions scheme probably better then they do in Dallas but are expendable.

I think one of the LBs could be traded but in no circumstance do I see Fasano going anywhere.

CAP CAP CAP.... I don't get it why people believe that we can afford Roy. Not going to happen.

I still think Parcells should be required to give us the Dolphins 2nd round pick and take Fasano.

Absolutely we could afford him in terms of cap space.

I'm certainly on board with trading one of our 1sts for Roy Williams. As for an additional player, it depends who it is. I guess I would do Carpenter or Ayodele though.

Saying that reveals that you don't really understand the cap at all... the Cowboys have sufficient cap flexibility to sign any player they think they need...

Do you have any idea how much cap room can be saved simply by reworking Tony Romo's contract?? Do you have any idea how a contract can be structured with a large signing bonus that gives the player plenty of upfront cash, but does not result in a killer cap hit in the first year??

Clearly, you don't...

There are things that can be done to fit him under the cap. I do not want nor see Fasano going anywhere.

Lol, absolutely, and he might as well throw in next years first for Carp right now.

it'll be easy to fit him in.

let's see... $18M SB, 6 yr $50M. the first year cap hit will be ~$4M.

release hamlin... savings of $4M. that was easy

Actually, signing Hamlin to a long-term contract would reduce his hit by at least $2 million. Then cutting Glenn would add $1.7 million. Trading Ayodele would add $.5 million, so there's all of your cap space needed for this year right there.

You could structure his contract where his hit is pretty low the first 2-3 years. And by the time it hits the high cap numbers, TO will be gone.

I mean, Jerry keeps talking about adding a veteran wide receiver -- surely he knows whether it's possible or not.

Absolutely!!! Trading one of the 1st rounders and any one of those players you mentioned for the real Roy Williams would be an steal for the boys. Would pull the trigger on that deal in a heartbeat!!!:starspin

Me too...

Does DET really use a TE at all anyway? Looks like they could use a LB'er more:

9 Cannon, Anthony LB 6-0 228 23 3 Tulane
55 Davis, Buster LB 5-9 239 24 1 Florida State
58 Fincher, Alfred LB 6-1 238 24 4 Connecticut
54 Gardner, Gilbert LB 6-1 228 25 5 Purdue
53 Lenon, Paris LB 6-2 235 30 7 Richmond
59 Lewis, Alex LB 6-0 230 26 5 Wisconsin
50 Sims, Ernie LB 6-0 225 23 3 Florida State

Sims is pretty good, but who are the rest of these guys? Carp or Ayodele might fit nicely into this no-name bunch.
