if you think Dalton is the alternative.... remember Dak is still playing this year, maybe next. We can still sign him if he proves worthy enough. Certainly the bar will be higher seeing that his cost will go up, so he will have to prove alot more than he has. Probably the reason why this could be the last few years left for him, but still a chance.I think you make an exceptional argument, I really do. I was all set to reply with my endorsement, when it occurred to me...
"Wait... I've seen Andy Dalton play for many years now, including playoff games... and in recent years, I've seen his durability become more of a question mark... so, given that most of us acknowledge that the QB almost cannot be underestimated in his importance in the quest for Super Bowl glory... do I really trust that Dalton's capable of getting us there?"
No, I don't.
Then, other side of that ledger... "Do I really trust that Dak is?"
I think so. It's at least certainly plausible at his age and given that he's played well enough to win playoff games.
So, I agree with the math on principle, but in light of the opinion I have that Dalton will win some games, but he's on the downside of a career that has gives me no reason to believe he's capable of leading a team to a playoff win, let alone a SB... I have to stick with the grass on this side of the fence.
anyways, there is FA and the draft
