So I felt this would be fun since all of the media outlets are starting to do theirs. We always get fan participation in the final 53 man roster. Who knows, maybe some others will chime in with theirs.
Obviously my top 12 will be the teams I expect to make the playoffs, but the 12th team gets in on a technicality due to a weak division.
1. Patriots. I know the mantra of the Champion has to be beaten, but in all sincerity I do think this is the best team in the NFL right now.
2. Packers. They will get a lot of injured players back to an already well functioning team. Hard to deny they are among the very best.
3. Saints. Last year they stumbled a bit. I still think this team is dangerous and the addition of Mark Ingram only bolsters what I think is the most powerful offense in the NFL.
4. Steelers. No doubt about it, they are among the class of the NFL. No doubt about it, I hate giving them credit.
5. Jets. The Jets are not all hype but they are a lot of it. Still it is hard to deny that they have shown themselves capable of pulling off big wins. A wildcard since the Patriots already are ranked, but a top team nonetheless.
6. Cowboys. Yes, I am serious. Besides, it will obviously upset some posters and make for a lively discussion. I think Jason Garrett is about to prove just how good he, his staff, and this team are. I believe the Defense rebounds in a big way and I think the Cowboys offense is going to be virtually unstoppable in 2011. Perhaps even ranking number 1.
7. Eagles. Obviously they have done the most this off season to try and improve, but I remain unconvinced they have succeeded. Still they will battle Dallas to the very end.
8. Falcons. I might have them too low, but I have the Saints quite high and that explains why wince they are division rivals. I respect this team and actually think they will be extremely dangerous.
9. Ravens. As long as there is a heartbeat in Ray Lewis and Ed Reed this team is real. They are becoming quite solid on the other side of the football and hopefully will push the Steelers aside at some point in that division.
10. Colts. Manning's neck issues raise flags that push this perennial contender down the list for me. He's still the best on filed general walking the planet but the Colts are failing to find him complimentary parts.
11. Chargers. I was rather shocked at how the Chargers fell apart last year. I do think they are still the class of their division.
12. Rams. I still think the Rams should have taken Suh, but Bradford was outstanding. This team is poised to be the class of that division for some time if he improves on an impressive rookie season.
13. Giants. I think they are both better, and not good enough to get into the top of the rankings.
14. Buccaneers. I have to admit, their rise last year was fun to watch, but are they a one year wonder? They might be and a tougher schedule this year will temper them a little.
15. Chiefs. I think they are almost there, but they have some hills yet to climb to get there. I like this team very much.
16. Bears. They won their division last year, not the Packers, but then they fell apart when it mattered most. I think they will be a good team but middle of the pack seems right for them.
17. Lions. I think the Lions are right on the Bears tail if their young QB can stay healthy. This team is improving every year in impressive ways. A leap forward could happen.
18. Raiders. A team that is slightly under the radar and playing decent. They are a player or two away from being in the thick of their division. They are the team most poised to fall though after losing perhaps their best player.
19. Titans. I am still shocked at their off season. I think they hope for an amazing turn around and it could go in the wrong direction. I do like the QB they acquired.
20. 49ers. The team that could push the Rams for a while, but with a far inferior QB will not supplant them. I'm sure they'd love to be in the Luck sweepstakes, but they don't have enough sucky players for it.
21. Texans. The team always trying to finally be legit still isn't.
22. Browns. This little team of over achievers actually has my respect, but not enough to push them higher.
23. Vikings. Cheer up Donovan. You'll still be above the Commanders by a decent margin, but you still can't win it all. It is not in your destiny. What were they thinking losing Sydney Rice?
24. Jaguars. I think they would be lower if I had more faith in Peyton's neck, Matt Hasselbeck, and that the Texans were finally going to have a winning season.
25. Seahawks. I said Pete Carroll should have stayed in college, but that meant he had to face the music. He lucked out into a division title in 2010, but won't do it again. Is the fat lady tuning up already?
26. Broncos. Can John Fox get the train back on the tracks? They are switching back to a 4-3 and he doesn't have a QB to speak of. So I doubt it.
27. Dolphins. The pendulum team of the AFC. You never know how good or bad they could end up. I think they are headed the wrong way after a brief run the right way. People caught up to their gimmick offense. That spelled doom.
28. Bills. I think they could be worse than this, but they might also leap the Dolphins who seem to be sailing without a rudder.
29. Cardinals. One of the most inept franchises in History return to where they belong. They should elect Kurt Warner mayor and pray he can turn around their city in another way.
30. Commanders. I think they are trying to win the Andrew Luck sweepstakes and I mean making a sincere effort at a tank.
31. Panthers. I do not know what Ron Rivera was smoking to suggest 10 wins are possible. I don't see it.
32. Bengals. I think they are a train wreck all the way around and Marvin Lewis is gone mid season. They are in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes but they took Dalton. A total mess.
