I think the reason this loss is so brutal is that the organization, the players, some of the media and definitely the fans held a belief that things were different this year. The corner had been turned, Romo had matured, Brooking was the glue and the locker room had been cleaned up.

Add to that the Giants, the trash talking, the division, etc.

But this...this creates doubt and a belief in voo doo and we have yet to overcome either one.

It isn't any fun to be numb when you haven't "medicated" yourself in any way. But that is where I am. Numb all over and sober as a judge. No Nyquil coursing through my veins and fogging my melon.

Today was a real bad day for me anyway. See my thread in the OT Zone if you really want to be sick. Don't check it out if you prefer not to feel worse than you already do.

I am not superstitious. Not even a little bit. That said, I hate Decembers. I am beginning to actually fear Decembers. Even when things are going well, December throws water on the candles lighting the way.

38:50 to 21:10. That is the time of possession advantage Dallas had.

1 to 2. That is the turnover advantage Dallas had.

424 to 337. That is the yardage advantage Dallas had.

Only 5 penalties for 30 yards.

9 of 17 on 3rd downs.

How did we lose? It's December. I honestly don't know how else to explain it. It is Historically our worst month. We are 90-77-1 all time in December. It is the only month of the 4 major football months where the Cowboys have not won at least 100 games. Wade Phillips is now 3-6 all time here in December. Tony Romo is...wait, sorry...I can't pin this one on Tony. He played out of his mind good.

Again, how did we manage to lose this game? Tossing superstition our of the way, you simply don't win when you average 2.0 yards per carry. For all of those clamoring for us to run the ball more, I'd love to if the OL could open holes. They miss Columbo badly. He is our best Run blocker, especially if we pull Kosier right as a lead.

You don't win when you can't tackle. In the 2nd half I literally wanted to throw up. I was screaming for a holding flag on Jacobs TD reception. I am sure you all were too. I was screaming louder for our guys to make tackles. I understand refs are going to miss some calls or make some ticky tack calls. The poor tackling hurt us infinitely more than refs ever could have even if they had evil intentions. It was horrific.

Special teams coverage units fell apart. That Punt Return TD was a dagger. McBriar sends one to the stratosphere and Hixon makes us pay dearly for arm tackling. Hurd had to know the ball hadn't gone 10 yards yet. Even if he recovered the ball it wouldn't be ours. Mental lapses.

There were good things today. Romo, Witten, Austin, and Williams deserve some praise on Offense. Spencer is making those calling him a bust look bad. Mike Jenkins continues to prove he was a great pick as he makes yet another great pick.

Jason Witten is now the 2nd all time leading receiver in Cowboys History. He now has 502 career receptions. He also jumped from 9th place all time among TEs to 6th place all time among TEs in receptions. He is 3 behind Frank Wycheck for 5th all time. The only 4 who will be above him are 3 Hall of Famers and one who soon will be. Truly an amazing talent.

But even with Romo and Witten and the passing game clicking it wasn't enough. We left points on the field.

I don't know whether it is Folk or the holds. Whatever it is, we can't afford these misses. They aren't chip shots, but he has made these kinds of kicks and now he is yipping them. I hate Kickers. I hate relying on them. The fact remains, sometimes you have to and we need Folk and the FG unit to figure out what is wrong. Fast.

I can't believe I talked about Kickers in one of my post game threads. I feel dirty.

a 17 minute advantage in TOP with the type of running the Cowboys displayed is rather uncanny...NY made the big plays in two phases, whereas Dallas had only it's passing offense to really lean on...they were not good in ST/K or Defense and you need two of three to win...i do think that the defensive letdown after going up 10-0 proved telling...it was like watching the 07 playoff game all over again...the Denver game also...

...if ever there was a game to view the glass as half-full it would be this one but the "demons" of December have reared themselves once again...i feel like someone has a voodoo doll hidden somewhere with a lot of pins stuck in it...

Did you watch the whole game or did you decide to just focus in on that 1 play? Spencer played one hell of a game besides that flub up on the jacobs TD.. he pretty much caused Eli to throw that ball up in the end zone that Jenkins picked and made a few tackles for loss, more QB pressures, stripped the ball from Jacobs.. Give credit , don't just focus on 1 play... I know it hurt the team but the guy did play a damn good game
Thank you. Right on the money.

He also got caught overpersuing plays a couple of times and had two big offsides penalties. One of them opened the doors on our defense.

The only thing that worked right today was the passing offense. The OL couldn't run block to save its life. The defense would make a good play and then puke on itself. They have to tackle, and how can you scheme your defense to let their only real weapon in the passing game get into the middle of a soft zone on almost every single stinking play.

I know its not the reason that we lost, but I really do want to see at least one game this year in which I don't have to scratch my head after an officials call at some point. I also think its horrible that you can complain your way to getting a flag as frequently as it seems you can in the NFL now.

Wait so you mean to tell me Spencer isn't a bust afterall as some have suggested???? Oh and Austin might be a number 1 receiver too?? Oh wait this is a good one right here, Jenkins is actually worth the first round selection of a year ago???

 You'd think we had a team full of scrubs, Dallas just need weed out the problems in the off season and they'll be Superbowl contenders.

The more I see of this team, the more I jump to this conclusion (and this is based on the totality of the Romo era, not just today's game): We're good enough to contend for the playoffs, possibly even good enough to get in. But we're also just good enough to get ourselves beat against a quality team that plays well against us.

Perhaps that's nothing profound. Fair enough. But it's what I've come to gather. The only explanation I can gather is this: We're simply a team that, when pressed errs on the side of making errors. It might be a fumble, a missed tackle, or a missed field goal. And if we're good enough to overcome the mistake(s) -- as we were today when Romo found Roy in the back of the end zone to take a 17-14 lead -- we'll simply follow with another mistake (escorting Jacobs down the sideline).

That, to me, is our history in December in a nutshell.

We did a lot of things well today, others not so well. As you showed, the stats would suggest we won by double figures. But again, when pressed by a quality opponent that made some plays, we folded with a series of backbreaking errors.

Thanks Hostile I enjoy these. Reading your numbers has truly made me sicker than i already was. How do you lose to a team that disrespects your lockerroom the way the Giants did?

Too bummed to make any comments. Dont know if we can get 2 wins versus Chargers, Saints, Commanders,Iggles. 4 very hard games. We are in trouble.

Disagree. I believe we are at the brink of one of the finest hours we as Cowboys fans have ever seen. We were here at the end of week 2.

The teams on our schedule better know what they're in for. We're coming at 'em, and coming at 'em full throttle from here on out.

Until further notice, I will now only watch the games till the last game in November. If the cowboys aren't gonna show up to play in december, I won't show up to watch them either.

I've got more important crap to worry about then a bunch of chumps that can't win when it counts.

That last drive showed the heart of this offense. We will not quit.

Not this year.

The last drive was nothing but New York playing as soft as ice cream.

The offense struggled all damn game and a sign of them not quitting is scoring in junk time?

I'm not sure scoring a TD giving yourself a chance for an onside with a minute to go in the game is a "junk time" TD. If we get that onside right there, I really like our chances. I guarantee you the Giants didn't want us to score there.

2 score game with like 3 minutes? Please. Any sort of success was more a case of the Giants letting up than Dallas putting it to them.

No, Bradie James looked worse. Like slo no good LB. He is most unathletic LB we have. On Top of it, he talks more than he produces. Much like Newman these days.

Oh sweet jeebus...his "angle" on the Jacobs run was so bad. So bad.
