I'm pretty sure it was Spencer who did that.

Thank you all for the kind words.

Ah, okay, misread your post. Even better -- puts a nice cap on Spencer's fantastic game. That guy is becoming a monster.

I agree with this. I think playing a team 3 times, with the score and the game shaping up as it was, some scores were being settled, especially Flo and Hamlin.

And Hamlin's first unnessasary roughness penalty on Celek was tough to see, but I'd rather he stay aggressive and take one of those every now and then.

Maybe the best touch I've ever gotten. :laugh2:

I do feel bad for Ellis. He may have pissed and moaned some, but the guy was a real team player on the field. I wish he could have been on the team, even if it was as a backup. For everything he gave the the organization, he deserved to win a playoff game with the Cowboys.

I know Jenkins is getting all the love lately, but Newman has been playing some great ball thi season for the most part. SO GLAD we still have him.

I was exhausted when I went to bed last night. Physically and also with some help of the booze. I've been a Cowboys fan since the mid 70's. I've had this weight or burden for the last bakers dozen years on my back. When people talked about what my team couldn't do the back of my neck would become red and heated. I had become tired of being a punching bag because I work with Steelers and Philly and Bills fans (at least I could always dump on Bills fan). I work with fellow Cowboy fans who jump the ship at the first sign of trouble and had come to doubt Romo.

Hos your "albatross" paragraph summed up my feelings. The weight has been lifted. I haven't felt this proud about my team in a long time. I am beaming.

Game thoughts:
  • Miles hammering Mikell on that block was awesome.
  • I was concerned about Colombo starting but he played real well.
  • Thank you Doug Free. Don't be discouraged, you play a bigger part than you know.
  • Loved Tashard getting more touches. I watched his Georgia Tech lockerroom speech yesterday. Dude can lead.
  • I'm completely proud of the progression in Romo protecting the ball and Spencer's development.
  • I'm not overly concerned with the penalties because it's a division rival and penalties usually go high in a rivalry game, IMO.
  • Jenkins laying himself out to block the pass and then face planting himself...holy cow dude, take it easy, we need you healthy!! And get down on the INT's.
  • RW #11...a nice little confidence booster of a game if anything. Hopefully that grows into something more as we move forward.
  • Vic "Shoestring" Butler.
  • Kick returns killing me. Pick a lane, hit the gas, if you pick the wrong lane so be it, if you pick the right lane so be it. But please, stop the hesitation/searching.
Congrats Cowboys and all Cowboys fans. My mom is a big Cowboys fan as well and we texted for about an hour last night. Haven't seen her this excited about the Boys in a real long time.

Going to Minny to knock Favre out and beat Tavaris Jackson.

I know I keep saying it, but man I love Mike Jenkins. Man crush I guess!

I don't post a lot even though I've been hanging out here for 6 years. I very much enjoy the weekly touch you provide. Wait, that sounds kinda bad.

This year the Cowboys have been fun to watch for the first time in a very long time, especially the last few weeks.

This is what happens when you get rid of the me-me-me-ers and come together as a team. I seriously doubt this team would be here if those players were still around.

The togetherness and attitude this team now has are what has been missing for so long. Gotta love the fire.

It has been years since I have seen this kind of attitude on this team and it is immensely refreshing. If I'm not careful I could actually get excited about this team again.

Kudos to Jerry for getting rid of all those buffoons he brought in in the first place. If this stuff keeps up I may have to wind up giving him credit for doing a good job as GM and that's gonna hurt.

Jenkins pulled a bonehead move with the lateral, but at least we were up big, and he was merely trying to make a big play. It is a learning experience.

My biggest criticism of Jenkins is his choice in cleats. Get some better gripping cleats my good man....no sense is slipping and sliding all over the turf.

You summed up what we were all thinking. I just couldn't have scripted this any better. The feeling is immeasurable, I am walking on Cloud 9.

And I have to admit, I was wrong. I questioned the ownership and coaching throughout the year. I criticized the team for getting rid of Owens. I hoped this off-season that the Jets would sign Miles so we could get a 2nd round pick. Heck, last night I screamed at Wade through the TV, how could he challenge such an obvious call? Wrong, wrong, and WRONG.

And boy, I've never felt so great to be wrong. :)

I hate you Hos. If I could put pen to paper with the likes of you, I'd be famous. Scratch the hate part............it's pure un-adalterated jealousy.

IMO, this team is even better than the 90's teams. Much better class, dare I say, of people. I'm enjoying this in a much different way because of that. Tony Romo is great but IMO, he's the luckiest cat in the world being able to hang out with the likes of DeMarcus, Ratliff, Miles, Choice, Brooking, Wade, Garrett. The list goes on and on. Just one day I'd like to spend with these guys; and I wouldn't want to waste that day on a football field.

but what Hos forgot to mention about the beatdown was that we raped their horses and then rode off on their women

Very great post. This post had me smiling from ear to ear as I read throughout. This team is playing with serious swagger. You can just see it on the defense. Players are making uncharacteristic plays. For example, Terrance Newman has always been a shutdown CB in my eyes and yes he does get his interceptions from time to time, but he never really made plays on the ball. These last few weeks, he has changed his persona. He appears more aggressive and is making some big time plays on the ball.

Another DB on defense that deserves some praise is Ken Hamlin. He has returned to Pro Bowl form since returning from injury. Many posters on this board, including myself, had written him off and was glad to see him replaced with Ball as safety and thought Ball should have remained in the lineup even after Hamlin was healthy again. But since he has returned, he is playing with a fire in his belly and the defense is notably better. With the exception of those two personal fouls against him, which I thought was very generously called against him by the refs, he played extremely well last night.

Next in the DB line of praise is Gerald Sensabaugh. Before he became a Cowboy, I never heard of the guy. But he is a big time playmaker even with a cast on his hand. Just imagine what he would be doing without that handicap. This guy definitely needs to return next season.

Then there is Mike Jenkins. I'm telling you, next to Revis and Woodson, this guy may be playing the best at his position in all the NFL. He just makes plays. I can't really fault him for the failed lateral. I chalk that one up to inexperience and I'm sure his lesson is learned. I'm just glad that it happened at a point in the game where it didn't really hurt us.

Not to be lost in the flurry, Scandrick also played well last night. He made some great tackles and had at least one key pass break up. He will be a very solid nickle CB for years to come, if not better. And how versatile is Ball? He has started as FS and can also step in and play CB. I am very impressed with who he has become as a player.

Patrick Crayton deserves some Kudos. I know everyone is down on the kick return unit, but Patrick Crayton has done extremely well. A new nickname is in order for him as he finally lays "Fair catch" to rest. Any ideas? I've been calling him Prime Time Crayton but that really belongs to Deion. He was a shoe string away from breaking two punt returns for TD's last night.

What about that hit Ogletree laid on Macho Harris last night? Wow, I didn't see that coming. Don't tell me the kid is a ST demon too because there are plenty posters on the forum that will be headed to Jareds...

Felix Jones is fully healthy. The kid is a highlight show and I'm glad we finally got him more involved. Hats off to Roy for making some clutch catches. He picked a great time to show up. Beuhler continues to get it down. How many touchbacks did he end up with last night? At least three, but maybe four. He has been a great addition. Suisham made some great kicks last night and he has been a valuable addition to this team. I still don't think he really missed that kick last week but oh well.

Overall, I'm loving this team and I also love our chances to go undefeated throughout the remainder of the season.

It did me too. :lmao:

I'm stealing this one and using it at work tomorrow to describe what we did to Philly. Also using it for the one Saint's fan who just can't get over it.

Life is GOOD.

I feel bad for him to, but in my opinion, he was one of those players that just had to go in order for our defense to mature and develop. His play was good, but his whining was detrimental. I don't think Spencer could have developed like he has if he was still sharing snaps with Ellis. Plus with Ellis gone, it has allowed others to assume the leadership role and become the voice of the defense.

I'm also glad Tank Johnson and Pacman are gone, but I really do feel bad for old school Roy Williams. I wish we could have found a spot on the roster for him. I think he deserves to enjoy a playoff win like last night more than anyone.

You went to the Samuel Taylor Coleridge card?:laugh2:

The thing I love most about last nights game is the play that NLF films will run on an endless loop from now until our great grand children are gone. D Ware and the strip. I could watch that over and over and it will NEVER get old.

Nice read as usual, Hos.

Some of the penalty problem was last night's crew although all their calls AFAIK were correct. It's just a picky crew. But the trend for drive killing penalties still reared its ugly head.
