A win is a win but this defense can't break like this

No he's not.

Brees
Rogers
Peyton
Brady

So there are no other QBs better than Manning? Top 10 but not Top 5.

remember on this site, playoff success rules over all so he has more SBs than all but Tom and is 2-0 vs Tom in the SB. Anyway, you just named four better, for him not to be in top5 don't you have to name at least five better?

Wow really--31 points., 450 yds. passing, QB rating 100+ with 4 passing TD's. Not me. Probably lose 8 out of 10 games when these numbers show up again. 6 Turnovers were great but can't count on that very often.

Probably wouldn't lose a game in a season full of +5 TO differential. I'll spot you the yards and the QB ratings and take my chances with our offense.

Anyone who watched Kiffin's defenses over the last couple of years at USC would not be surprised at how our D got shredded tonight.

What would be surprising is the turnovers, since his D's at SC were as allergic to turnovers as we were last season.

So tonight, we give up a ton of yards AND force a half a dozen turnovers. One of those things is an anomaly that isn't likely to continue. Lets hope it's the former and not the latter.

The real concern is the same issue we've had in the past few years which is the offense and defense not being able to play up to par with each other. It's either one being really good and the other being real bad. That's my worry.

You guys remember the point in the game that the Defense created three turnovers and all the offense had to show for it was a FG. The offense wasn't able to take time off the clock either, especially seeing as Romo had thrown 40 times in one half.

That was really the problem.

The defense should have been been "ears pinned back" mode and they couldn'tcouldn't

31 points an anomaly? DOUBLE WING, you're a bigger fan than that. Surely, you've seen Cowboys v. Giants the last 4 or 5 years?

Please don't compare college to the pros. How about you watch Kiffin's defense in Tampa.

I will cut them some slack, they backoff some after we got the lead and it will backfire against good QBs.

500 yards given up and 6 for 11 on 3rd down conversion are troubling numbers

Well, I guess for a cowboys-giants game no it really isn't. My point is just that I don't know whether to credit him for the the turnovers, or be concerned about the yards. Their offense usually always gives us fits so maybe it's just a bad personnel matchup.

I got really discouraged by those two long Giants' drives in the second half, but I think you ultimately have to point to the failure of the offense to capitalize on the first half turnovers. The defense scored two TD's - that's the difference in the game. Our offense, in particular the running game, was very inconsistent tonight.

I didn't like the blow coverage, or the sloppy S play on the first long Nicks completion. Overall, our Ss haven's demonstrated that they can play good pass defense, and that was an issue again tonight. But that was probably my only complaint about the defense tonight.

As for the Cowboys/Giants games. I expect them all to be 3-4 point games with both teams in the 30s until we start seeing otherwise. I'm just really happy we're going to at least split with them this season.

You can't pick and choose what the defense does when he says he'd take 18 more weeks of this performance. The defense gave up 31 points but scored two touchdowns, and one of the TDs it allowed came with 11 seconds left. If our defense had this same performance every week, the offense would need to score only 18 points each week to win. We did that 12 times last season -- and scored 17 offensive points in another game, so you could say that we would have finished 12-3-1 with this same defensive performance each week last season.

Think of it this way: Would you take a defense that allowed 17 points every game, even if it never scored? I know I would.

Just think the Cowboys are on pace to get 96 turnovers this season and be undefeated.

Okay, silly, but the point is that every game is different and every team is different. It doesn't become a trend until it happens more than once. The Cowboys can't count on six turnovers per game, but the other teams can't count on 450 yard passing games either. On the plus side, the Giants could not run the ball, and when a team cannot run, that will lead to more passing plays and usually more interceptions. The turnovers were not just by accident, I would say that several of them were statistically inevitable.

This is from 2011 season but I believe this stat is still very relevant. From NFL.com

"Here are some simple facts from the 2011 season: If your team is even with an opponent in turnovers, it's 50-50 you win the game, as it should be. But if your team wins the turnover battle by one, the odds of winning go up to 69 percent. If they win the turnover battle by two, the odds go up to 85 percent, and if they win the battle by three it shoots up to 97 percent. "

Yes we gave up too much yards but people who are discounting the value of TO vs yards given up needs to read the above paragraph over and over again.
