I believe Aikman came back from a fractured collarbone in 1998 in 6 games or so. Any idea if that was a full break or a hairline?

Yeah, Aikman missed five games (six weeks total including a bye week). Here's a blurb I found about Romo's fracture which also talks about Aikman's.

"At some point today Tony Romo will undergo a CT scan on his fractured left collarbone and what is revealed there will tell the Cowboys how to specifically treat the injury.

If the fracture is in the middle of the collarbone or closer to the sternum, then they can surgically repair it with a plate, which could help the healing. If the fracture is toward the shoulder joint, then there is a difficulty in using a plate and the only thing that will help heal the bone is time.

When Troy Aikman suffered his fractured left collarbone in 1998, he had a plate inserted and missed five games (six weeks because of the bye) and was good for the rest of the season.

Whenever you hear fracture or break, it is at least a six-week recovery time because that’s how long bone takes to heal and that is when everything goes perfectly. At best, Romo would be able to return Dec. 12 vs. Philadelphia for the final four games."

I'm more interested in him being able to come back for them against Philly next week.

You may be disappointed in that regard.

But... Philly can lose to anybody. I did done seen't it already this year.

I guess Matt Flynn just got a gig with another team this year, this time back with the Packers.

Me too- hence why I've stopped betting on them years ago.

Wisest business decision I've ever made.

So is the broken collarbone confirmed or just guessing?

Obviously if its broken, even hairline, that is season ending.........................tough blow for the Pack.

Haven't heard but if it was minor, I think they would have put out a statement by now to assure the fans and keep the media frenzy away. The longer they keep quiet, the more chance it is a major injury. If its major, they don't want the news out there until they meet to figure out what to do. If they want Flynn back, they don't want everyone to figure it out and claim him.

Didn't see Rodgers in a sling...I doubt it's fractured.

Yea, something is up if they are not saying jack about it. They have an xray machine at Lambeau, so they knew if it was broken before the first quarter was up.

McCarthy just stated in his postgame presser "re: Rodgers injury, he has a shoulder injury, don't have exact diagnosis."

I dunno -- it's either broken or it isn't, correct? IMHO they are scrambling to call up Matt Flynn.

Sounds like they know its bad and dont want to say so.

Like you said, its either broken or its not. There is no guess work here. Avoiding the question makes me think they know Rogers may be out a while and might be contacting QBs on the down low and dont want to announce it to the rest of the league.

McCarthy's comments could be interpreted in a lot of ways. It's fractured but they aren't sure about the severity of the fracture yet, it's fractured and they aren't sure if there is other damage, it's not fractured but they aren't sure about other issues with the shoulder, they already know but just don't want to say yet....I guess we find out tomorrow.

Doesn't matter who is hurt, if eagles and giants win, what they had for supper, what car they own, who they sleeping with.

Dallas controls their own destiny, I don't care what other teams do. We need to play hard and beat the team we face each week.

That said it's sad to see a good player or any player go down with injury. Hope for speedy recovery so we can best y'all full strength with no excuses.

While that is all true, Dallas is not good enough to just run the table...................we are going to need some help.

Just being realistic about the situation.

Packers give out injury news about players like it is a state secret. Mcarthy probably already knows but always puts the media off when talking about it. They already did test at the stadium. The team knows they just arent saying. Probalby won't say anything until Wednesday if then. We are more likely to get the injury news from a Glazer or Mortensen source rather than the beat writers. It is a joke with Packer injuries. Sunday Mccarthy says they have to do more test and will know more Monday. When Monday comes he says they are still doing test and won't know anything till Wednesday. Wednesday comes and he says he is hoping the player gets to Practice on Thursday but won't reveal anything. Thursday he says the player did not practice and still knows nothing. Friday the player will be a game time decision.

Hells Bells, Finley was injured two weeks ago and has the best doctors in the country look at the reports but they still supposedly know nothing. Love McCarthy as a coach but his treating injuries like a War Plan is over the top.
