About "Adam Jones" and "Terry Johnson"...

I think you make a fair point OP, but I'm gonna wait until the post in this thread and inform me of what they prefer. I would really hate to pee them off by getting it wrong.

They call me The Breeze, I keep rollin' down the road.
I ain't hiding from nobody, nobody's hiding from me.

Some people call me a Space Cowboy.
Some people call me Maurice.

I'm a Joker, I'm a Smoker, I'm a Midnight Toker, sure don't want to hurt no one.

Ya' heard me?

When I came into this thread I was like who in the heck are Terry and Adam?:laugh2:

I posted this in a thread on another board when I saw "Terry Johnson", so I figured I might as well vent on this here.

Can we please stop with the "Terry" Johnson and "Adam" Jones crap?

They use their nicknames, Tank and Pacman, as their first names, because that's obviously what THEY prefer to be called. Just because you screw up a few times in life doesn't mean you deserve to have your name changed without your discretion.

To those guys, Terry and Adam are merely their "government names".

And for all we know, they HATE their government names, which is why they've embraced their nicknames so much.

Nobody calls Magic Johnson "Earvin Johnson".

Sorry, this has just something that has annoyed me a little lately. It seems I read "Adam Jones" here as often as "Pacman Jones" and there's simply no good reason for it. The name has nothing to do with their past troubles.

And I promise you that if Pacman does get his act together, it will have nothing to do with people calling him "Adam".

Despite their troubled pasts, do these guys not deserve the right to be called whatever they want to be called?

And I know Jerry has used "Adam" a few times recently, but I've got to believe that has more to do with PR than anything else. In all likelihood, Jerry hasn't even had that conversation with Pacman yet. And I've heard him use "Pacman" more often than "Adam".

But as fans, we have no good reason to call him that. NOBODY who has followed Pacman's collegiate and NFL career knows him as "Adam Jones".

Hey, Rip Hamilton got arrested for marijuana possession! Guess it's time to call him "Richard" now and retire "Rip" forever! :banghead:

read a book.

My sources tell me Batman and Robbin are confused about this thread.
Superman and Clarke Kent told me they are pissed.
Snoop Doggy Dog thinks it's the funniest thing he has ever read and that he has the munchies.
Just thought you guys should know.

I lived in LA during Magic's prime.

Pat Riley always referred to him as Earvin. So did Kareem and Worthy.

I also lived there during that time and I agree. In nearly every interview I saw them in they called him Earvin, not Magic. Kareem always called him "Buck" when off camera. I don't know for sure where that nickname came from but I remember an interview with Magic where he said that his family and friends call him "Buck".

In fact, after Magic's first game as a Laker he hit the winning shot and jumped all over Kareem, who was a very unemotional guy, and Jabbar told him something like, "Easy Buck, we've got 81 more to go".

I always refer to him as "Magic" because he was!

I was very fortunate to have been able to attend about half the Lakers home games in the 80s and never paid for a ticket myself. :D

Conspiracy?

Sorry, this has just something that has annoyed me a little lately.

You seem very easy to annoy.

In all likelihood, Jerry hasn't even had that conversation with Pacman yet.

And you know this how?

Thank God we have you to tell us what to do. I'd be lost without you.

This has got to be the most useless thread I've seen in a while, even worse than all the Roy Williams threads. Congratulations.

It doesn't matter what anyone calls them.

You know why a lot of people around here are calling him Adam, because Jerry is calling him Adam.

Just FYI, there's no listing for Adam Jones on NFL.com. However, there IS a Pacman Jones. And when Mickey asked him what he preferred to be called, he said Pacman.
Nice that you all conveniently ignored this.

To Pacman Jones, Pacman is more his first name than Adam is. Adam is his "government name" to him, and he doesn't want to be called that.

The ONLY reason he has been called "Adam Jones" recently here is because he has gotten into trouble. Don't try spinning it as ANYTHING different.

And you justify your name-changing because of it... after all, PACMAN Jones was a trouble-maker... so maybe ADAM Jones won't be!

If he was a model citizen his whole career, we'd all embrace him as Pacman Jones.

It's Tiger Woods, not "Eldrick" Woods.

Oops, but Tiger never got into trouble, so he shouldn't have his name changed without his discretion. My bad.

"Pacman" is his thug name and he needs to not be a thug anymore. Who cares what he wants to be called?

Can we also stop calling Amendola "our Wes Welker" then?

Because this is a family oriented board with standards I will not tell you what I call Adam Pacman Jones so I just call him pacman at this site. :laugh2:
