Though Brian Johnson, in my opinion, has done the best job in the history of rock of replacing a legendary lead singer, Bon Scott will always be my favorite singer for AC/DC. He lived what he sang about and his voice is what electricity would sound like if it could sing.
In his own words...
" Music is meant to be played as loudly as possible, really raw and punchy, and I'll punch out anyone who doesn't like it the way I do."
Couldn't have said it better myself, Bon....

My favorite AC/DC album:

Johnson ...... think he fits the gritty sound better.

Though I love Bon Scotts voice as well.

Bon Scott but you could not have hoped for a better replacement when Scott died than Brian Johnson

It's kind of funny because with all the different versions of the Best of that ACDC has done with Brian Johnson...There are some songs that Bon Scott originally done that I thought Brian did better. Only a few mind you. Plus it is kind of hard to rip on Brian as he has done so much with the ban and was a part of so many of their hits.

With that said. I don't think you can beat Bon Scott on some of those classic songs and He is great singing TNT and Dirty Deeds. Plus you could just see in his eyes that the guy was a wild man.

Edit- A little piece of trivial.
They were interviewing the band and they talked about how they had to replace Bon Scott. Said one of them heard of some crazy guy so they went to a place to see him sing. Said he was the wildest guy they ever saw...was screaming and rolling around on the floor and everything. Brian Johnson pipes up and says...what they didn't know was that while doing the gig I got appendicitis and was screaming and rolling around on the floor because I was in severe pain. Don't know if that was true or they were joking but it was pretty funny.

A tough call. Both were great fits. I like Brian Johnson a little better though. Bonn Scott was a little higher pitched and was a little more of what you noticed whereas Brain Johnson blends a little better with the music.

For me it's easily Bon. I love the old AC/DC. While Brian did one of the best albums of all time in Back in Black you can't beat the stuff on Powerage, High Voltage, Highway to Hell, Jailbreak, and Dirty Deeds.

I love these:

I like them both...

Scott was a little more raw...

Have any of you seen them live?

I was absolutely amazed at how well Angus played for all the jumping around and head bobbing he does. I know his stuff isn't the hardest to play but he still did it very well. I would be puking after about 5 minutes of the head shaking.

Yeah and it was a top 3 concert event for me....so much energy and fun plus the huge fricken cannons!

For the OP; I like both but perfere the darker steadier voice of Johnson via Back n Black.

Lets just say when Bon died, AC/DC didn't skip a beat. They were/are both great.

Jeez. It's like trying to choose between Roger Waters and David Gilmour...nearly impossible. I'd have to give the nod to B Jo, since the bulk of my favorite AC/DC songs are those in which he's appeared. That's not meant as a slight to Bon Scott, though...the dude's immortal (in a manner of speaking, of course).

Gilmour took the place of Syd Barrett

Right, and Gilmour was more part of the Floyd most think of and recognize.

Bon Scott was great. I might be in the minority, but I think Brian Johnson was just the man. Back in Black was a masterpiece.

I think Gilmore working with Roger Waters is what put Pink Floyd on the map. Barrett music was so out there that the band would never made it

Like them both...but I'll go with Johnson...cause I grew up on...

That's a fact. With Barrett they had a loyal, but small following, and the money wasn't going to be significant enough to keep them together through the personality clashes. Gilmore/ Waters is what elevated them to a differnt level. I wish I had been able to see them live. I understand it was a great show.

The heavy use of LSD caused Barrett to suffer mental meltdown.

Bonn Scott.

He died young, sang on Highway to Hell and had Back in Black dedicated to him.
