Accountability, Responsibility and Discipline are the 3 biggest traits that have been lacking with every Dallas Cowboys team/organization for years now. This is most likely why this team/organization keeps failing going on 30 years and counting.

The type of head coach that Jerry would be wise to hire is someone who instills Accountability, Responsibility and Discipline. This team would benefit and perform much better if they had someone who instilled these traits in them.

Say what you want about Deion Sanders during his playing days, he certainly has instilled lots of Accountability, Responsibility and Discipline in his teams both with the Colorado Buffaloes and Jackson State and improved each team every year he's been there:

Deion Sanders has a career coaching record of 38-17 in college football.

That includes the following individual seasons:
  • 2020: Jackson State (4-3, 3-2 SWAC)
  • 2021: Jackson State (11-2, 8-0 SWAC)
  • 2022: Jackson State (12-1, 8-0 SWAC)
  • 2023: Colorado (4-8, 1-8 Pac-12)
  • 2024: Colorado (9-3, 7-2 Big 12)
(Click on speaker icon in video below to hear the volume)

Jerry should hire someone like Deion who has proven can shape and mold his players into better athletes/students and their teams into much better teams.

What say you?

So the problem is Jerry. If so, does it matter who he brings in? I would rather have someone he respects and would listen to.
Problem has always been Jerry. Him winning with Switzer and Jimmy’s team proved to him in his mind that coaching doesn’t matter. If this team never won again after Jimmy left Jerry probably would have given up years ago trying to do it his way.

And you’re right. Unless Jerry brings in someone and stay on his yacht signing cheques and not in team meetings. Nothing will change no matter the coach.

I'm curious to know what makes you think Deion would not be able to handle this team of players? He actually has done well at both college universities he has coached.
You seem to be leaving Jerry out of the equation. Sure, bring in rah rah Deion who talks a big show but doesn't provide anything else. Jerry will still be the one calling the shots. Jerry's door will still be propped open for a place where the players can go to avoid accountability.

Yep, it's always been Jerry. It will always be Jerry until he is gone. Until Jerry relinquishes control, no, it won't matter who he brings in. Everyone will know that he is really the owner/GM/HC and whomever is brought in to be the 'HC' will only have the title with no authority. Like I read in an article a few days ago, whomever Jerry hires is going to be instantly castrated, so the unlucky fool who accepts Jerry's offer better be OK with that.

If you think this team is a dumpster fire NOW…………..
Shame on your for not buying into the hype pushed by the media LOL

The key issue is Jerry Jones loves this kind of circus where everyone is talking about his team. Good for business don't you know?

There is a part of me that is sadistically hoping Jerry would be stupid enough to pull off a stunt like this and hire Sanders, just wondering exactly how big the fire burning can get LOL

That said, the real conversation between Jerry and Sanders could really be going like "hey Deion, lets see how much we can milk this publicity out between the both us in the media even though we both know you ain't coming here". I'd like to think this is really the case, but with Jerry, you really never know...

Personally, I don't think NFL players would be as impressed by Deion as college kids are. Also, they wouldn't have the fear of being kicked off the team or losing their starting jobs, because Jerry wants the popular names playing.

This is an interesting scenario AC as deion Sanders is a bigger personality than Jerry and could easily take the limelight away from him where someone Mike McCarthy is never taking the limelight from Jerry.

I feel sure Jerry respects him but could he possibly share the spotlight with prime Time deion Sanders.
That said I think Deion would probably not be afraid to challenge Jerry on issues he thought were important and wouldn't back down like other coaches who were just scuffling to stay employed.

I think Deion would not go into the situation without some control of his destiny he didn't earn the reputation of prime time by letting some 82-year-old man ruin your reputation and make you look like a fool because he won't participate in free agency.

There's only one other person that I believe would command more respect and that would be Belichick as his reputation and amount of Super bowls won goes before him.
That man has walked the walk in the NFL under the stiffest competition and came out successful I think he would get whatever he asked for. And that's really the problem here Jerry being a pimple on the *** of progress

To me, when it comes to the motivation/discpline coaches, a lot comes down to who they hire for the X & O's.

In Detroit, I truly believe all 53 guys would run through a brick wall if Campbell asked them to. He knows how to lead. But that only goes so far if the team can't execute nor has a competent gameplan.

Say Deion comes in, player could respect him to start. Who is his OC or DC? Say Zimmer sticks around for the defense.
Jerry knows retreads or yes men.

I think it's pretty simple you need a coach that Jerry respects enough to let do things their way.

Someone with such a resume that he feels intimidated trying to override them someone that makes him walk on eggshells because of their accomplishments.
Somebody that can because of past success override Jerry's thought process and create a new culture pushing him to the background and concentrating on the basics of football.
You said it all AC accountability responsibility and discipline this team has none of it can't lead the league in penalties every year and expect to do well in the playoffs something McCarthy was supposed to fix and never did can't ignore the trenches and expect to succeed in the playoffs.
Need to be able to run the football and stop the run to succeed in the playoffs none of this is rocket science just need a coach that's strong enough to override Jerry and get what's necessary to accomplish these basic tasks that Jerry ignores on a yearly basis

Well, I agree. You're definitely on the right track. I'm just not completely sure. Dion is the guy you want for the job.

My only problem with Coach prime at this point is strictly The view and stigma that he created while being a player of a brash showboat trash talking type of guy the opposite of what I would want to be a coach.

Now I am sure he is a very serious football coach at this point in his life and career.
But for me it's like watching Gilligan play a serious role in some type of dramatic movie he's still Gilligan until I see him prove himself on the biggest stage otherwise.
This is strictly my own hang up I don't know if anybody else feels the same way and it is just a hangup as I feel he has matured and become a very serious Coach I just need to see it.

All that said Belichick is a serious miserable hard-nosed coach that is proved himself in the NFL doing the task at hand better than anyone else so I'm confident that he could probably at least change the culture of this team and if nothing else make Jerry squirm and point out his shortcomings and hopefully get us further than we ever have been in the last 30 years

sadly, I think you may be right. The Staff that 21 brings with him has a guy like Warren Sapp on it...oh boy, I can't wait lol...folks aren't thinking about what a hire like Deion entails. I will say this, its either going to be a major shift in a good way for us or it will be like watching Barnum and Bailey Circus while dropping acid lol...Not pretty. Lets all be careful what we wish for and think. If we do hire a guy like Witten that has never done this at the NFL level, the worst thing that can happen is he fails and thats it. I can guarantee ya, he won't allow a circus atmosphere here. We may not win much but he would insist on standards. Lets ask this, what if we do hire Witten and the guy turns out to be a gem of a HC? It would set up this franchise for some stability for many years. I might warm up to this idea more I think on it. Might be worth a dart throw.
