Accountability, Responsibility and Discipline

Accountability, Responsibility and Discipline are the 3 biggest traits that have been lacking with every Dallas Cowboys team/organization for years now. This is most likely why this team/organization keeps failing going on 30 years and counting.

The type of head coach that Jerry would be wise to hire is someone who instills Accountability, Responsibility and Discipline. This team would benefit and perform much better if they had someone who instilled these traits in them.

Say what you want about Deion Sanders during his playing days, he certainly has instilled lots of Accountability, Responsibility and Discipline in his teams both with the Colorado Buffaloes and Jackson State and improved each team every year he's been there:

Deion Sanders has a career coaching record of 38-17 in college football.

That includes the following individual seasons:
  • 2020: Jackson State (4-3, 3-2 SWAC)
  • 2021: Jackson State (11-2, 8-0 SWAC)
  • 2022: Jackson State (12-1, 8-0 SWAC)
  • 2023: Colorado (4-8, 1-8 Pac-12)
  • 2024: Colorado (9-3, 7-2 Big 12)

Jerry should hire someone like Deion who has proven can shape and mold his players into better athletes/students and their teams into much better teams.

What say you?

I think from Deion he needs to have in the contract that if he doesn't have what Jerry said he would he's able to part ways

The root problems have long been identified. No point in worrying about what will happen or what could be. It's going to be whatever Jerry wants & it will not be predicated on what is best to put a winning football team on the field. That has been proven over & over.

So, sit back & watch the circus & be amused and\or go find another team. Those are your only options when it comes to your best interests.

This is an interesting scenario AC as deion Sanders is a bigger personality than Jerry and could easily take the limelight away from him where someone Mike McCarthy is never taking the limelight from Jerry.

I feel sure Jerry respects him but could he possibly share the spotlight with prime Time deion Sanders.
That said I think Deion would probably not be afraid to challenge Jerry on issues he thought were important and wouldn't back down like other coaches who were just scuffling to stay employed.

I think Deion would not go into the situation without some control of his destiny he didn't earn the reputation of prime time by letting some 82-year-old man ruin your reputation and make you look like a fool because he won't participate in free agency.

There's only one other person that I believe would command more respect and that would be Belichick as his reputation and amount of Super bowls won goes before him.
That man has walked the walk in the NFL under the stiffest competition and came out successful I think he would get whatever he asked for. And that's really the problem here Jerry being a pimple on the *** of progress
While I don't advocate for Deion, you bring up a good point about him not cow towing to Jerry. And Jerry just might take it from him, as long as was respectful in his approach.

I’d imagine Deion wants to go where his son is going. And like Manning and Elway could dictate including potential trades to make it happen.

Personally, I don't think NFL players would be as impressed by Deion as college kids are. Also, they wouldn't have the fear of being kicked off the team or losing their starting jobs, because Jerry wants the popular names playing.
It's the culture........Vrabel said his first priority is the get rid of any entitlement on the team.

Good luck to that since he has 2 sons entering this year's draft. There is no way he can successfully dictate for both of his sons to be drafted by the same team he decides to coach for.

I think it's a quantum leap from the NCAA to the NFL. I won't go as far as saying Sanders can't find success in the NFL, but I think he would be an extremely risky pick. The job requires so much more than X's and O's.

If anybody thinks Dan C is not know for being a good x's and o's coach, put your hand up? If you think the guy on the Rams is a genius, say I? I am sold on both, and the reasons their teams are having success is because of the skill set each brings to the table. Our culture here stinks, and if Deion is the guy who can change the on and off field culture, I would be all for it. The problem is, from my POV it makes too much sesne and we know for Jerry this is just a side show Prime gimmick, and a ploy for Deion to get paid in Boulder

In Detroit, I truly believe all 53 guys would run through a brick wall if Campbell asked them to.
I believe this to be accurate. I also believe that if Dan Campbell was coaching the Cowboys this year you would not see the same things. Players like Diggs and D Flaw and Martin and Dak have their own agendas. Players like Zeke are an absolute team destroyer. They are your team leaders but they are not interested in leading the team. Parsons seems to have fallen in line with this approach. If you think I am making this stuff up that is fine. IMHO if that is your opinion then you just do not pay close enough attention.

Yeah I was just thinking Runny. Deion is a pretty articulate personable salesman.
I think he if anyone might be able to manipulate and coerce Jerry into doing things his way.

Where say Belichick is a no-nonsense guy that would have no time to placate and handle Jerry with kid gloves and just try to bully him into doing what he should do.

Jerry needs to be smoozed and his ego massaged Deion I believe is capable of this could be kind of a relationship like Muhammad Ali had with Howard cosell just saying

For us to get further not the Super bowl necessarily but further I think it's more important to be able to overcome Jerry and build the team properly then it is to be the best guy with ex's and o's

Well I definitely learned something from this video. That's a huge win for the school and students when the coach is keeping the players accountable also.

Brother you are spot-on when the Lions hired Dan Campbell and he was talking about biting kneecaps and everybody was making fun of him I said just wait and see this guy is old school and his desire to win is going to become infectious.

I mean honestly does McCarthy look like he really gives a flying spit about winning. He just doesn't exude any of the body language that would make you think he cares.

Dan Campbell on the other hand looks like if it's necessary at halftime he'll strap on the pads and try and run over somebody if he has to the players respond to this I'm not saying you have to be as emotional as Campbell.

But look at Tom Landry for instance was there ever a thought for any moment that this guy wasn't all in about winning.

It was like watching Clint Eastwood before one of the gunfights where he would stare down his opponent was there any thought that he was going to throw his gun down and not win the fight no.

Belichick the same thing never a question whether he's all in or not
McCarthy has the look like I hope this game gets over before the pizza place closes

Since we have the 12th pick, it's not out of the question that Jerry couldn't move up to get Shadeur....its been done before. And getting his other son is the least of the problems because he's projected to be either a last round pick or a UDFA.

The scenario would have to be to let Shadeur sit a year and learn and with Daks history of injuries he should be able to get ample playing time here and there.....if Dak doesn't like this scenario he can always request a trade that best benefits him.

Not saying that I'm advocating this route, but it can be done

Brother @Blackrain , this is exactly my thinking. If anyone could convince Jerry to see things his way and give him more say-so, it would be Deion. As you said, Deion would know how to gently get Jerry to agree with him.
