...to even be in the game.

as much as everyone is saying the cowboys got by by the skin of their teeth -- and most teams wouldn't have survived all the mistakes in that game, i know -- how about reflecting on some things that have gone under the radar?

the bills offense, despite holding the ball for 32:31, scored just 3 points on the dallas defense. the boys recorded three sacks FAR behind the line of scrimmage, forced a big fumble and recorded a huge interception.

even better, the dallas offense capitalized on those turnovers.

what about buffalo? the bills DEFENSE capitalized on two of its turnovers, but the bills OFFENSE could not capitalize on the other gifts that romo gave up. from 4 turnovers that weren't returned for touchdowns, the bills managed a mere 3 points.

(yes, you can say all day long that you can't give up turnovers and still win games. but the opposite of that is, if you turn the ball over BUT keep the other team from capitalizing on that, you WILL win games. it's frustrating to get turnovers and get nothing for them. romo, despite his performance, never got demoralized. the bills offense, however, knew it couldn't do jack. the buffalo receiver after the game who couldn't manage to say much more than "it was embarassing" was right.)

meanwhile, the dallas offense scored 6 different times (2 TDs and 4 FGs), despite a ridiculous 6 turnovers -- and it managed those 6 scores in only 27:29.

offense vs. offense, dallas beat buffalo 25-3.

yes, dallas was very lucky to overcome its own mistakes. but the fact remains that the cowboys were the much, much better team out there on monday night.

You summed up my feelings exactly. But for the mistakes Romo made, this would not have been a close game. We were guilty of playing down to their level somewhat ( looking ahead? ) but they did not do anything to help themselves offensively. Romo was their offense.

That being said, we will go as far as Romo takes us. As the defense gets better and better, we will need fewer points to win. Hopefully, the coaches can help him manage the game as the season unfolds. He will see a bunch of what the Bills did the rest of the way.

Offense vs. Offense = 25-3, Dallas
Defense vs. Defense = 14-0, Buffalo
Spec. Teams vs. Spec. Teams = 7-0, Bufalo
Offense vs. Defense = 25-17, Dallas (Bills O & D get credit for their FG)

Our defense played very well. All things considered, we were lucky, and created some luck, to get the W. If our Defense gets one turnover for a TD, we would not have had to worry about the 106 yard field goal.

um, no, they did not...if I remember correctly that ONE turnover was followed by a turnover of our own.

Its true... they only scored 10 pts really... a FG and KR for 7.

6 Romo Turnovers even if you only give him 3 FG's. We win 34-10 or better.... maybe 42-17 with a few TD's instead of FG's.
