Adam Viniteri signs with Colts

I think Mare getting cut is predicated on them getting Vanderjagt. Of course, we're still competing with New England and Green Bay for any kickers out there. So, even if Mare is cut, we'll have competition.

Not sure if you are joking or not but in case you are not.

They have had a troubled past with Vandy.

He made comments about manning in an interview and it went down hill from there.

Plus he is a great FG kicker but his Kick offs leave much to be desired, that is why they brought in Cortez last year to do the kick offs.

It was pretty common knowledge they were going to let Vandy go this offseason.

I have seen that avatar, I think someone else used to use it.

But that think always kind of freaks me out.

im aware of some of the troubles in the past with vanderjact, but he has been a very solid kicker for them, i really thought they were gettting rid of him cause of salary, i kinda thought the Colts were in a salary crunch, especially not being able to re-sign Edgerrin James.

And Mare would be the best on the list, when you factor in his ability to kickoff.

I think Mare will be available eventually and I personally think he's the second best kicker available behind Viniteri.

Josh Brown is really the only option for us worth getting now. We are forced to go that route...and it better be an offer Seattle won't match! :bang2:

Just an FYI, I don't think the Seahawks are going to let Brown go. In order to get him out of Seattle, the Cowboys would have to offer him the kind of money they would Vinatieri. I really don't think that is an option. I'm now thinking Todd Peterson or Paul Edinger (I believe both are available but I may be wrong on that). Trust me, we don't want Vandrjerk. I've talked to players and the guy is a born loser. One prominant NFL player told me when he missed that kick this year, "Hey, if you want a kicker to hit a game winner against the 49ers in week three, he's your man but when it's money time, he chokes as bad as anyone I've ever seen. You can actually see it on his face." Personally, I don't want anything to do with that guy.

I have to say, as some of you know I've been following the Vinatieri situation closely. Some of you have PM me asking if I've heard anything and my response has been, "It's been as quiet as a mouse." From a personal standpoint, I'm shocked. I have contacts in the Boston area and no one saw this coming. Oh, and for those of you who hate the Patriots, their fans are about to jump off a bridge if that makes you feel any better.

Well I did not think they were getting rid of him because of a salary crunch.

However I did think they were in a salary crunch and would not give Adam V what he wanted.
