Has a child. Also participated in track as a Texas prep. Signed with Oklahoma State out of high school but did not receive certification from the NCAA. Walked on at Texas Tech in 2007 and saw action in six games, making four tackles, one tackle for loss and zero sacks. Was dismissed from Texas Tech in August of ’08 for violating team rules and did not play in ’09 to concentrate on his academics at Dallas Community College. Transferred to Prairie View in ’10 and played in 10 contests, recording 27-8-51⁄2 with a blocked kick. In ’11, broke the Southwestern Athletic Conference single-season sack record previously held by Robert Mathis — started 9-of-11 contests and racked up 81-241⁄2-22 with two batted passes and six forced fumbles. Was invited to the Combine but was not on campus when Prairie View received the invitation and the information did not make it to him on time.
