If we thought he really had potential, we'd have kept him on the roster when we had him. He's got a highlight reel, and he's somehow captured the imagination of our fans during his cup of coffee here. If we traded for a cast off we already had on the roster who's about to hit the streets again for the 4th time overall, I'd be ballistic.

More than I can say for anyone else on the defense. ..

Which makes it odd that he's supposedly an obvious poor fit for a 3-4 yet those have been the teams interested in him so far.

3-4 teams are going to look for that fringe rusher for third downs.

I don't know if the player can play, but all I know is that it is comical that at team poised to have Martez Wilson as their primary edge rushing threat can even consider being picky.

I think any team would covet an edge pass rusher.

He looks like another camp cult hero who couldn't play.

No you wouldn't. You'd simply pop out the handbook and recite the usual. We don't know. The team must like him. You're just guessing.

Stuff like that.

Yawn. How 'bout you let me handle my own takes, and you stick to making comments about foam fingers and Ben Bass and grading draft picks for us relative to where they are on your Mel Kiper spreadsheets.

This is the opposite of a situation where we don't know. We already had the guy on the roster and let him go. If the team liked him, we'd have kept him. Teams don't let talented pass rushers go because they're not ideal scheme fits. They find ways to use them if they can. Especially in a multiple scheme like we were running at the time we had him.

This guy was on the open market all offseason until 7/22 when SD picked him up. Coughing up a draft pick for him at this point would be ludicrous.

Of course. No team is going to let go a legitimately promising edge rusher.

I am saying simply that what we have is not any better than what is likely to be out there and we need to be open because it is going to get ugly if we think we can just hold on with what we have.

He did have an impressive reel. He still can't play. For a fan base that pokes fun at guys like Hayden or Selvie, this fascination with a practice squad player is fascinating to me.

Yeah, I can't see trading for the guy either... unless it is a bottom of the roster type of guy who we know is going to be cut anyway. Just an even swap of guys that aren't going to make the 53 man roster of their current clubs.

As for us cutting him, I do think it is notable that we ran a 34 then and now run a 43. I could be wrong but I think he is simply a better fit at a position where he doesn't have to think too much and can just pin his ears back and get after the QB.

Not to mention that players do improve from their rookie camp to their 3rd camp. James Harrison floated around the league for a good, long while before he finally found a team/scheme that really suited him.

Overall, if I had to guess, I'd say that Hamilton won't ever be a good player and that it is a long shot that he ever makes it back to Dallas, but I certainly won't say I know that for sure.

Burning a draft pick on him would be ludicrous. I agree.

Ya know what's even more ludicrous? Spending a 4th round pick on Anthony Hitchens.

In three years you'll catch up with me and then we can talk about it.

This rush end position has been a position of major need for us going back to when we cut Ware, though. This guy was on the street a month ago. You'd think he'd probably have had an agent make an inquiry at some point when he was on the street to see if the 4-3 switch created an opportunity for him.

I'm not going to complain about giving guys shots. If our pro scouts like the player, bring him in. I just think in this case, the ship sailed, and it was a little ship that can't quite make it on an NFL roster.

I definitely wouldn't trade for him. If he becomes available, then why not? Same for Jeffcoat.

There are lots of stories about guys who bounced around for awhile, then bam, they turned the corner.

You are almost certainly correct.

Let's trade one our many wr prospects for him...or rb. We are so loaded on the offensive side of the ball...let's balance that out.

Chargers are deep at WR and RB. In fact, we signed one of their RB cast offs when Malena went down.

Wasn't a fan of the pick either but how bout we see him in a game first before we all crap on the guy. Lol he may be the starter by week 6 so we may get a lot of tape on him.

Adrian Hamilton is similar athlete to Demarcus Lawrence, almost identical size as well. And neither have abilities that are transcendent in the NFL. But their is no doubt that Hamilton was a prolific pass rusher at the level he played and was able translate, albeit not consistently or as prolifically at the next level. Hamilton was in line for a rotation spot with Ravens before he injured his wrist in 2013, outplaying a couple of draft picks.

Remember when we signed this kid last year as an UDRFA? I was psyched to see what he could do. He was from a small school, but I felt that given the right amount of time, he could be seasoned into a decent players.

Unfortunately, he was cut and the Ravens signed him. There, he was stuck behind some pretty talented dudes. Ultimately, he was injured, and waived.

Now he is in San Diego. Again, behind some big names.

Could be worth a second look IMO.

Every team has big names except the Cowboys. I can't understand why we draft so well om offense and absolutely horrible when it comes to defense. Its time we start grasping straws. I'm all for bringing in Hamilton.

What you don't take a liking to Hitchens? LOL
Same here actually. I hate that pick. In fact, I have hated all our 4th round selections since 2010. He has bust written all over.

Yes. By all means. Just because we suspect something, it doesn't mean that we know it for sure. I'm not one for grandstanding against a middle round pick just because it's easy.

He's been ok so far in camp. Coaches seem to like him. He's got a long ways to go before he's ready to really contribute on defense, but he might well get there.

Chargers are stacked at 3-4 OLB with 4 legit starters in Dwight Freeney, Jarrett Johnson, Melvin Ingram and Jerry Ataochu (who I preferred over DLaw) who are locks to make team. Chargers will cut some very good pass rushers like Tourek Williams, Cordarro Law and/or Adrian Hamilton.

Cowboys need to get one of these guys.

What on earth did you guys see in Hamilton lol? I know he racked up a lot of sacks at PV but PV isn't the NFL. Who knows if it could translate but are we convinced he's anything more than a PS guy right now? Chances are....he may get cut so if they want a look at him they maybe can have a shot at him. I just don't know what he's done in these 2 years....I know he's had some injury problems but isn't that enough to stay away from him?
