I don't understand this.

I really don't. Is this some kind of Internet Meme/joke I'm unaware of?

To me, it really seems exactly the same as saying everyone has liked soap operas at least at some point in his/her life.

I don't know many people who enjoyed wrestling, at any point in their life. None of the guys I grew up with watched it, nor do they now.

I don't *think* my dad ever liked it, her certainly never said anything positive about it while I was growing up. Always just "it's fake fighting".

We watched boxing. I used to like boxing, and I still enjoy the occasional match.

"Professional" wrestling is soap opera on steroids, with plotlines and outcomes prearranged well in advance of actual "matches". What is difficult to understand is the public frenzy over it. It's not unlike soccer fan fanaticism. Then again, soccer can look itself in the face and call its reflection a sport...

I don't get it either. At least in a soap opera you can have different story plots that lead to different outcomes. In Professional Wrestling, it's the same thing over and over. One guy yells at another and he yells back, they go into the ring and one of them wins a pre-determined outcome.

I watched it for about two months way back when I was around 8 or 9 years old. (even went to a match at the Ft Worth Convention Center) Back when it was Kerry/Kevin Von Erich, Bugsy McGraw, the Fabulous Freebirds, and the Great Kabuki.

After a couple of months, I couldn't figure out why I was actually watching it anymore and just changed the channel.

I find this to be wrong. Every form of entertainment goes back to the same formulas and the same bits, angles, storylines, etc. that have been going on for centuries. It doesn't take a genius to figure out how TV shows and movies are going to end and what is coming up next. That doesn't make them bad because it's how those are executed. Much like a blues guitarist... only 3 cords, but it's how you play it.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles was taken straight out of the 'Odd Couple' playbook which was taken out of the Laurel and Hardy playbook. But, John Candy and Steve Martin had their own way of doing it and it was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

Wrestling is in the same way. Why? Because it's entertainment and that's how entertainment generally works.

I disagree with so much of this and I can tell you first hand that Blue guitar does NOT just consist of three cords! That is a very limited view of what any music composition is.

You should watch more movies as there are many that do not follow the same plot. You are just used to the garbage the movie studios puts out. Most of what comes out today is regurgitation of story-lines or outright remakes of movies because they are just trying to fire out movies as fast as possible to earn money faster. There are a few creative movies that came out lately that don't follow the same general plot sequences. I would say Inception and Limitless were refreshingly different. The movie studios are lazy bums and don't care if they regurgitate the same crap over and over.

I liken Professional Wrestling to todays "reality tv" shows. Today's reality tv shows aren't even really reality. They are all mostly scripted a head of time. They have to do this otherwise they would be boring. They must create controversy and drama that is over the top to keep people interested. Hence, Professional Wrestling is the same exact thing.

Yes, Mr. Blue Suit won't admit he was a wrestling fan. He probably liked disco movies or something :)
