This Team took a real gut punch with the loss of Diggs last week.
How were they going to respond would reveal a lot about the toughness, character, and mental makeup of this team.
They responded by not showing up to play, especially on defense.

Now I know that this is just one game, but sometimes one game can give s strong indicator of a teams mental toughness and they came up small.

This has me really concerned about the rest of the season.
This team is as talented as any other in the NFC.

But the 49ers and Eagles are much stronger mentally and have a real edge over the Cowboys in this department.

I will root hard and hope for the best the rest of the season, but have lowered my expectations significantly for this team.
I would love to see how good the Eagles would be if they lost 3 pro bowl lineman in one week and an all pro CB.

Well, the Cowboys like to be the bully of the NFL. We got punched in the mouth yesterday. Now, we get to see how different this team is from last year. We will see against the Patriots how the Cowboys respond. I expect a strong response. I expect the team to come out firing and wanting to take out the anger from last week on the Pats (with less penalties, of course).

Does anyone really think Jerry would give up on Dak after blowing so much sunshine his way ?
That’s what Jerry does, he blows sunshine. I said this in another thread so I will give the short version here. Before the draft Jerry said they would “look to draft a QB”. Then the draft came and went then he traded for Lance. Why? If Dak is the entrenched starter and will be for the next 3-5 years and Cooper is the entrenched backup then why trade for a 3rd string QB? No one trades a 4th for a 3rd string QB. But Lance has the pedigree to be a starter just not the experience. So IMO the trade shows Jerry may be contemplating moving on from Dak because the QB room was set. Everyone in the QB room knew their role. Then the trade came. It raised some eyebrows.

But as far as what Jerry says, yeah I don’t put much stock in that.

My expectations have went from sky high to are you Fing kidding me.

I was actually thinking Lombardi Trophy.

The defense was the biggest disappointment. A great defense doesn’t get bullied all game against the run. The defense was weak!!!!!!!!!

To Jerry's credit, we at least have a long shot QB hope in Lance.
Is there any chance if we’re around .500 at the midway point of the season, Jerry goes to Lance? Here’s the big one, if he isn’t the answer l, we take a shot on a high draft pick at QB next season? My hopes are up on this for the first time in a long time.

Dallas is soft as banana pudding. Will lay down against any above average team with a pulse.

Do you really believe that Diggs injury was the adversity the Cowboys had to face?

Over the previous 10 regular season games, the Cowboys averaged 32.5 points per game. That would have won Sunday's game.

The adversity that the Cowboys had to face was playing with no offensive line. All three Pro Bowlers were out. What are the odds of that happening? Two of the starters were replaced by undrafted rookie free agents. That was a devastating reduction in pass protection and it showed. It would have effected any QB in the league.

This "adversity" has been going on for the past several seasons.

All of these rule changes over the past 45 years to make the game safer have been utter failures.

From 1970 to 1977, the Cowboys averaged 16 starters that missed 1 or zero games per season. That is 72.7% of all Cowboys starters for that time period.

Anybody want to guess the percentage of starters from 2017 to 2022 that only missed a single game if any? That's 28.2%. slightly over a quarter of all starters during that time period.

That has more to do with the Cowboys inability to gain momentum towards the end of a season enough to play championship level football.

The Cowboys lost four Pro Bowl starters three days before the game. That is a serious decline in talent. That is the true nature of their adveersity.
