After the Draft, what next?

Any free agent we sign will be based on price point, not necessarily ability to contribute.

I don’t care how cheap they are if they can’t contribute we’re not signing them. The departures we’ve had have left us with some holes.

There will be another wave of free agency, teams trying to fill holes they couldn't fill during the draft. Will the Cowboys be active, I'm assuming they will be!! Please give your thoughts, happy Easter

I read somewhere that this doesn't mess with a teams compensatory picks, does anyone know about this more in depth??

Seems like some fans really struggle with the offseason and how it works. Most thought all player acquisition was over after the first week of FA. I guess they forgot about the draft and that FA goes on for months.

Cowboys are being smart in that they are waiting until after the draft before they shop any more in FA. After all, it would be dumb to go out and sign a guard when they might get one with their first round pick.

The Cowboys history in FA shows us that they will make some bargain signings after the draft but thats likely about it.

The usual suspects will be in full chest thump mode right up until about the tenth week of the season. Then vanish without a trace like always.

Yep...........the season is usually like clockwork. Before the draft all the crybabies are out in droves that were going to suck. Then after the draft people get excited. Its HOMER season where people flip flop and start thinking we are going to the SB and all the draft picks will be stars and make big impacts. Cowboys get out to a fast start and even the cry babies jump on board. Then the Cowboys disappoint in the playoffs and the cry babies get embarrassed that they actually fell for it and start crying about how we should blow up the team and start over.

Rinse, repeat!!!

Immediately after the draft is when we analyze how to fit our 5-6 new perennial pro bowlers into the lineup.

Prices will be more in line for what the Cowboys are looking at so I expect to see them more active.

There won't be this big flurry of activity but some signings of middle of the road type players.

yeh ,,.that's the time for more bargain, cheap deal hunters for the Cowboys, ..filler types for special team coverage guys, run of the mill, ..1 techs, ..backup Nyseke type OTs,
street vet FA kickers,.. re-sign the practice squadees, ....

Per Stephen-Moneyball,.. i just will not expect a big splash, FA big name signing at all. It's 100% about the NFL draft and undrafted rookies and more cheap fillers.
It's the way and direction of the Cowboys nowadays.

Kind of depends. How many UDFA’s they sign to fill out the 90 man roster. I am sure there will be a few if at the right deal though.
They could wait until after OTA’s and mini camps, and right before TC to bring anyone else in.

Right now there are around 64 on the roster. Add 9 draft picks, to 73. That leaves 17 open spots.
They usually sign 12 to 15 UDFA”s sometimes more. So there is a good chance they may sign a few vet players.

I think May 5th is the cutoff date for the comp pick formula, but I am not 100% for sure.

Should be an interesting draft. Reading Peter King's article this morning and the consensus is that this is a deep draft with starter level guys into 4th and 5th round but not as many sure things and generational type players. Also feels the UDFA classes are gonna be big and talented.
