Again, what do we do at corner?

Newman is terrible now, I get that. He's probably gone

We just signed Scandrick

Jenkins has a starting spot locked for now

Who starts opposite of Jenkins? Who's our depth?

Any free agents spark an interest?

If it were me, I'd keep Jenkins and Scandrick and cut everyone else, take a corner or two in the draft and try to pick up another in FA or after June cuts.

I would hope we can it through the draft.

Grimes in Alt looks to be the highest rated CB in FA and while he is good I think FA prices tend to force teams to overpay.

At a minimum we need at least one FA CB and draft two additional corners in the first four rounds.

People are overlooking a huge issue here. It isn't just that the D cannot get off the field. We can't get TOs. We need an influx of youth and speed in our defensive backfield.

Tracy Porter
Terrell Thomas
Cortland Finnegan

Are all UFAs.

I would also draft a corner.

Not impressed with the FA CB. NO secondary looks about as bad as ours

If we can secure a FS in free agency, I would draft a CB in round 2 & 3.

If we are not able to get a FS in free agency, but secure a CB in free agency, I would get a CB in round 2 and a FS in round 3.

And cut Newman.

Finnegan would be a great fit here opposite Jenkins
Ugh...I hate that guy. Besides, he wants to stay in Tennessee, he's rather small, and he's going to be 28 next year. He's not afraid to tackle, though. Still, I'd rather try to find someone younger.

Of the guys mentioned, I like Thomas the most. He's young. He's big. He makes plays, and he's a tackling machine. He is coming off a knee injury, though, and he has a long history of injury.

if we could sign him to a decent contract, I agree and would like to see this. Tennessee usually has a very decent defense, and they play against some really good offenses between Indy and Houston (Indy excepted). Move Jenkins to the number 1, finnegan to two, draft someone and focus on other areas.

He's a dick to be sure, but I think he would play well for us for 2-3 years if we draft someone in a relatively deep CB draft. That way we can draft the line early on.

That is the key. So often FA inflates the value of these players. Finnegan is a decent CB he certainly not worth a big time contract

He's got something that no one has in our secondary...attitude!

Starter #1-----------Jenkins
Starter #2-----------FA or Draft

Slot starter----------Scandrick

Keep Ball-------------No way you'll find a #4 or #5 better than him while looking for two guys ahead of him already...Ball is a nice injury replacement outside.

Needs: Starting CB, backup to the slot (you don't want to see what the secondary looks like if Scandrick goes down), and depth replacement for Walker.

Realistically, you replace Newman and Walker with two new CBs through the draft and FA.

this is why you need a real GM

in FA this year we could have had either joseph or carlos rogers

but no, we went after the big name/splash in namdi (typical JJ move) and could not close the deal

how good would either of those have looked opposite jenkins

this is the problem we have with JJ as the GM and why it will be really difficult for us to develop the depth to really compete consistently

the guy is a football idiot

All these guys are going to be available this offseason.....

Tracy Porter - NO
Terrell Thomas - NYG
William Gay - Pitt
Cortland Finnegan - Tenn
Brandon Carr - KC
Tim Jennings - Chicago
Brent Grimes - Atl
Carlos Rogers - SF
Eric Wright - Det
Marcus Trufant - Sea

Of this list I would like to see either Jennings, Rogers, Wright, or Finnegan (Yuck) signed.

Oh and one more thing..... Scandrick has gotta go!

draft Janoris Jenkins and sign either Brandon Carr or Aaron Ross

i would go finnegan (for his attitude as much as his play) and Rd 2 in the draft (jenkins or boykin)

Yeah I have no idea what he's going to command. Not sure what other teams are DB hungry (I assume NE is one but they also don't overpay).
