Asante Samuel-DB-Patriots Feb. 27 - 12:24 pm et

The agent for Asante Samuel says he's using Dwight Freeney's six-year, $72 million deal as a starting point for his client.

He says he isn't using Nate Clements' seven-year, $64 million pact, which included $22 million guaranteed, while Freeney's had $30 million. It sounds like Samuel plans on being the NFL's highest paid defender by the weekend. The agent named the Saints, Eagles, and Cowboys as possible suitors.

There is that magic word again.

Dallas.

You throw Dallas into the mix and all of the sudden it's a national story on his client.

Smart - Smart !!

I do not believe for one second the Cowboys are suitors for Samuel at those numbers. No way!

Agreed. One sure fire way to get the most $$$ for your client is to mention that Jerry Jones is interested. Somehow the price tag always goes up when that happens.

Lets just trade up a few spots to ensure DRC or McKelvin if either one of them make it past 16 and only have to pay them 1/10th of that contract!

30 million dollars guarenteed? I have my doubts that Samuel is worth that much, even with the market for CBs as it is. And I don't see how the cowboys affor that... that's 5 million in pro-rated bonus money this year alone. Unless he get ridiculously low base salary the first year (I'm talking like 2, even 1 million) I don't see how they fit that into this year's cap with Barber's contract still to be done. And throw Canty into the mix for the tender offer they threw at him.

i would like samuel and cromartie or another solid cb out of the draft. than when newman's contract is up we should cut him. though i do fear that samuel is a product of a belicheat system.

Any agent worth his salt has to make Dallas a player.

The actual quote, what a non story.

“I think you start at where Freeney is and work your way down, not from Clements and work up,” said Shavers, who expects interest from the Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints and possibly Dallas Cowboys. He said the Patriots remain a serious contender to re-sign Samuel.

He said the Patriots remain a serious contender(even though they have no intention of resigning the guy) to re-sign Samuel.

There, an easy fix.

That's exactly what he is. I've seen him get torched when forced to play man-to-man and those underneath routes when in zone which is all he's "elite" at.

Another rumor... just like Hall coming to Dallas.

Hopefully, this rumor, the Hall rumor, the Walker rumor, the Moss rumor, and other bogus rumors prove to be untrue.

Felix Jones & #22 Chosen CB

or

Darren McFadden & Asante Samual

???

Not even a question. Why though do people seemingly want us to strive for the first option, The safe option, When this possibly great one is within our reach for virtually the same draft cost.

Quit spamming your little highlight reel opinions about what's what. McFadden is unproven and too costly and Samuel is a product of NE's system and too costly.

Are you Snyder? Sounds like it with all the cap room you think the Boys have. Don't forget. If you trade up that high, you will pay BIG time. This isn't including paying Samuel his BIG money as well.

Forget about Adams. What about Barber? Canty? Newman? Ware?

What are you suggesting Samuel play? Starting CB? Where does Henry go? THere is no way you pay that much for your cb trio.

Snyder's thinking would be... who cares about the future, it's all about now and the "wow" factor.

And I didn't even go into the McFadden factor of... whose yo daddy... and what bar will he get into a fight in this time? THis is one time I will agree with Kiper in saying that you can get a quality rb outside the first round and in later rounds this year. No need to give up the Ranch for something that ain't broke in regards to the running game.

Get a compliment back - not one for Felix Jones, but there are many other options. And keep the core in tact instead of trying to buy the most expensive groceries only to have the ones you stored in the panty go bad before they are suppose to.
