Disclaimer: I'm 3 Guinnesses deep so excuse me if I go off the rails.....

So let's talk about aggression. It is beyond time for our front office to begin applying some aggression in everything they do.

Many of us have complained about Garrett, his staff, and Jerry in creating what we have going on 23 years... That's understood. There's nothing we can do about it. So let's move beyond that and talk about reality.

The reality of it all is that we are in the best situation we've been in from a salary cap perspective in years. We have so much capability to utilize aggression in the offseason. It's well chronicled that we have improved significantly in how we draft over the last several years thanks, in part, to the elevation of Willie McClay. Drafting is good... Let's leave that alone.

HOWEVER, we have been trolling the bottom of the barrel looking for free agent "diamonds in the rough" for the last several years. We got a little aggressive with Greg Hardy and perhaps the results of that foray left us snake bitten.

It is now time for us to utilize that cap space and go for the free agent gusto to compliment the draft. So many other teams have seen success in being aggressive in free agency. It is now time for us to step up our free agent acquisition game. Depth is a major concern and it is rearing its ugly head this year. There's absolutely no reason to have such a beautiful salary cap situation if you don't use it to your advantage!!!

We need to pull both draft and free agent strings this off season to utilize a two pronged aggressive approach to loading this team up. An abundance of talent can hide coaching deficiencies (case in point.. Zeke)....

I would have gotten rid of McFadden and kept that RB we drafted... Darius something or another. Depth depth depth.

Dez is no longer Dez... Get some additional WR talent in here through FA. Someone that can stretch the field and catch reliably...

Why do we rely solely on Sean Lee to be the difference maker? Why do we look so different without him in there on defense? I think we've done a great job infusing talent into the secondary but it wouldn't hurt to have a quality FA or two back there as well to show the way.

I've carried on long enough.... We need more aggression in the FA market. Period!!! There's no excuse now. GitRDone.........

Posting while sipping... Not necessarily a good idea....Lol

But we do need to be more aggressive in the free agent market going forward. The draft is great but a strong push into free agency in the off season would really load this team up with talent and "depth". The days of kicking the bottom of the FA barrel should be a thing of the past... Get aggressive.

in vino veritas

Sometimes you get real insight from the bottom of the bottle. Now outside of locking up Martin and maybe franchising Lawrence to make sure he can do it two years in a row we really do not have anyone coming up that we NEED to spend money on.

So YES now would be the time to look real hard at some FA's that are NOT BARGAIN BASEMENT DEALS. Not talking about huge FA signings since that really does rarely work out well. I am talking looking at the model the Pats use.

I may sound like a broken record, but how about a little aggression in fixing/replacing the coaching staff? A legit set of coaches would still have the team being competitive when they lose 4 all pro starters...would they possibly lose? sure...but lose by 30+? ridiculous....heads really need to roll, and JJ in his whiskey-swilled mind sees nothing wrong....THERE is the issue...JJ won't get nuts in FA, although, that may look like a last resort type of thing to him - he has given Garrett 150 chances to be good, and yet, we are once a gain a middling 8-8 type of team (or worse)...so maybe he gets some FAs this off season, grabs more defense in the draft and then Garrett is on the one-year plan

I just laughed at myself, none of this will happen

@Bleu Star my friend, Happy Thanksgiving. Sometimes all the aggression in the world just doesn't give you the desired results because the better team wins. That's what happen last week... the better team won. That's what's happened in almost every loss this season. For the most part, we don't beat playoff quality teams... exception was the KC game. We should beat the Chargers today because they aren't a playoff quality team but they are good enough to upset a team that isn't properly prepared. Let's hope the Cowboys show up today prepared to win.

GO COWBOYS!!!

Yes! Exactly! Copycatting the Pats is flattery for them.. Whatever. The model works. Use it.

We know none of that will happen. So let's mask it by infusing the team with even more talent at every keep position.

The good news is we can finally unload Romo's money and have the space. The bad news, only money wise, is Martin and Dlaw have turned into some of the best players at their positions and want to get paid. It's an ongoing cycle.....lol.

I do admire and appreciate your unwavering gusto. Thats usually where I am even in the worst of times. Quite honestly, I wish I had it today. Every game lately is watched with one eye on the tv and the other eye on the door.

I'm not a capologist but I do recall several references earlier this year to us being in the greatest shape we've seen in awhile. As @diefree666 noted, we don't have to break the bank. Just get some really good mid level FA talent in here. The talent level of the team overall needs to be increased and that's not going to happen "quickly" via the draft.

The strategy of sitting back and letting all of the decent FA talent get signed only to then swoop in at the 11th hour for the scraps needs to be a thing of the past!!!

I'm not saying we won't win today but I'm already thinking worlds beyond because it's highly likely we will embarrass ourselves yet again on the grand stage.

I hear ya, Bleu Star......but when aggression backfires— we go back to cap hell.

Some of this is impossible to predict. I’m referring to how good Sean Lee got and then, as a result, how dependent our D became on him. It is like two different units out there.

Could say the same for Tyron. Although he doesn’t line people up— his absence is killing Dak, Dez and the O in general.

We have a good core. I think if we go out in FA and get guys who fit the vision of what we are built to do, then yea, I’m on board.

I’d like to see us get a bruiser st tailback. I think that would help in several ways. Other positions/ needs are obvious.

Bleu,

You talk about being aggressive yet you’re still bringing up a 6th rd pick that is injured and has yet to see the field.

I feel what you are saying, I feel that way too sometimes. My secret is I have a foam brick that I keep near my recliner. I throw that thing at the TV every time I get frustrated watching the Cowboys. It helps.

McFadden was a waste of FA money. Darius Jackson would have given us that versatile big back that we need without Zeke's services in there to transcend the offense. Yeah He's on IR right now but that's in Cleveland. IR is akin to brushing your teeth in Cleveland.

McFadden doesn’t cost much, and it’s a shame he’s not used. But seriously are you still ruing the Darius Jackson thing? Dude is on IR not helping his team. He is a 6th rd pick. There is absolutely zero proof that he would provide anything ever.
