well thankfully you wont be calling the shots at VR anytime soon then

you do realize if the kid is busted for drugs and suspended, he does us no good on the field right?

draft picks are gambles anyway, but making the risk even more against you by taking kids with drug histories is pretty dumb...if the kid develops the problem AFTER you draft him, you have to deal with it best you can, but if you KNOW about it beforehand and take him anyway...well..

You have no credibility dude to be slamming me for wanting a guy that had character issues.

I did some research and found out that you wanted Winston Justice on this team. http://dallascowboyszone.com/forums/showthread.php?p=818993#post818993

Well guess what almighty judge, here's a piece of fact from a draft site on Winston Justice.

Winston really screwed up last year (2004), he went from being a potential high NFL draft pick to possibly slipping due to character issues. Talent is not the issue, he was the first Trojan true freshman to start on the line since 1996, and he has had 23 starts in the last two years. He was suspended from the team for the entire year (2004) for pointing a gun at another student. Even though the gun was only a pellet gun it looked life-like and it turned out to be a big deal. He is also being investigated by the NCAA for supposedly having dealings with an agent. Justice was suspended for two semesters by USC's Office of Student Judicial Affairs and Community Standards after his arrest. The offensive tackle sat out the 2004 season, but is back with USC this spring and has resumed playing for the Trojans in 2005. Last July (2004), Justice was sentenced to three years of probation after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor count of solicitation of prostitution in Long Beach. As of this writing he has enrolled back at USC and appears to be making another run on the Gridiron. After staying out of trouble for the 2005 season and displayed the same form that made him a top prospect in 2003, then he has got a good chance at an early NFL Draft pick, that is, if a team wants to take a chance on him.

You probably have to join (it's free) to read the article on Justice.

So don't come to me with the character issues unless you're ready to band every player (including Cowboys) that has character issues.

I agree....No go on this guy.

It's not just the drug issues.

Here's a guy that supposedly ballooned to 270. He reportedly has major attitude problems.

You have to wonder how important football is to him. He'll have to really "grow up" for me to want him.

We already have one prima donna that needs to mature....not sure we need two.

Nope. We did not have a starting DE at that time.

That is certainly true, but Jerry Jones passed on Moss because of his issues at Marshall. Irvin even lamented by saying, "The passed on him because of me." This was after the Thanksgiving throttling that Moss gave to the Cowboys.

If you don't like the guy just say it. But he can clean up the off the field issues. The guy is an incredible athlete, and sometimes you have to take a chance on a GREAT talent (Randy Moss).

To me, every player in the draft is a gamble. No one knows what Leinart is going to do or if he's going to make it. People are crowning AJ Hawk the next Butkus, but in reality, who knows?

This guy will be in the supplemental draft, and you could get him with a 2.
I think that's low risk, considering our historicle 2nd round draft status. So in my amateur eyes, I think you take a chance on the guy.

Don't remind me. I was at that game. We scored 35 at home and lost. Moss tied a NFL record with 3 td's over 50 yards each. :bang2:

I would want to see where he is physically right now before making a judgement. If he's keeping in shape and serious about turning it around, I'd consider it with a 2nd day pick. If he's 280 and looks like he swallowed a donut shop, next.

Chances are, though, that if Groh didn't want him, BP won't either.

pellet guns and wanting to pay 10 bucks for getting his knob polished are a little different than getting kicked off a team for drugs

Justice wasnt kicked off his for drug use

again, all I said is if he was kicked off the team for drug use that he's a loser and isnt worth wasting a pick on...on top of that, dude was fat as hell last yr and played like crap

Yeah.

Hitting the reefer is a lot worse than assault.

Can I ask what planet you're from?

I don't think Justice is nearly the character risk that Brooks is either, but that was a pretty lame attempt at justification. In the end I would gamble of both of these guys for the right price.

The right price for Justice being the 18th overall pick. The right price for Brooks maybe being a 4th.

Since when is pulling a pellet gun on someone assault? Assault is when you attack someone.

Good thing we don't have a 4th rounder.

Not sure about the criminal definition, but tortiously, pulling a pellet gun on someone is definitely assault.

Physically harming someone (actually attacking them, ie landing a blow) is battery.
