Half the population can’t tell fact from fiction. Wait until these deepfake/AI doctored videos start improving and they will be utterly convinced.

People don't have jobs or money now.

That won't stop the machine; there will likely just be a greater disparity between the rich and poor. AI won't fundamentally change human character traits such as greed, self preservation, and tribalism.

Beyond that, I was really talking more about the notions of advancing mankind.

There are many possible outcomes. We do know a few things for certain though. Greed still drives humanity. The government is slow to change and usually waits till the last possible minute. 8 billion humans came into existence because of industrialism and mass farming but soon that need for 8 billion will disappear. How it all plays out is uncertain but I’d guess the earth’s future population will be a few billion less and new way of thinking about economics will surface.

The so called scenario is laughable because bottom line is that AI's will always be poor copies of the human brain and thus never able to truly take over. not to mention their basic vulnerability to the simple act of pulling the plug and turning off the power.
