I heard him tell it a few times. On the Ticket, on his weekly spot with them.
But from what I remember I don't buy that he was serious about it.

I remember him talking about almost going to Kansas City after he retired but not Philly.

When I read the title, I could not comprehend it. I swear I was like what words are missing? thinking it was a story about golf. Man, thats truly unfathomable. He would not be the hero he is today had he signed.

That is an old story. I never thought he would do it. Really glad he didn't.

I think he wanted to...I know he worked out with them. There are some ugly shots of him in a chiefs helmet...but they chose not to sign him IIRC.

Would look terrible in that hunter green. I just can't see Troy in anything other than the silver & blue.

I'm not a very big Aikman fan in the first place. I've heard this story. To me, when your a "lifer" you should shoot this down instantaneously. He considered it heavily. I can't stand him as an announcer either. Aikman tries so hard to not come off biased that he is a negative nancy the entire broadcast. Not a fan of him anymore. I liked him when he played here, but most of what he has done since, I'm not a fan of.

Hmmmm. I didnt know that.

He didn't retire from the Dallas Cowboys he retired from the National Football League. I didn't like that.

And his 3 SBs would be down the drain in my eyes... it woulda been the twins.

Come on, man! Nooooooo.... Lol

I've heard Aikman tell this story a few times. Each time he was careful to make it clear that his legacy in Dallas was part of the consideration. But I think the bigger consideration was his broadcasting career being on a fast track and the fact that it just wasn't something he was able to commit to physically.

And I'm a huge Aikman fan. The guy represents a commitment to hard work and winning and to his job. You see it even in his broadcasting career. He could no more act like Michael Irvin does in front of a camera than he could not do his job on Sundays. It's just a different mindset (I love watching Irvin, too, for entirely different reasons). It's the difference between a brain and a heart. But I definitely respect him for it and for his role in making our dynasty possible.

I remember a broadcast where he said he was "glad he could finally move past the Star" and felt like the "Philadelphia organization had adopted him as their own, especially Andy Reid."

I can't find the clip.

That was the day I was done with Aikman. It told me he just wasn't trying to be unbiased. It meant he just didn't like the Cowboys.

Where are these shots of him in a Chiefs helmet? I'm interested in seeing them.

If you hate on Aikman there's no Cowboy you wont hate on...

Absolutely, imma fan of this team be fore any player. That would have been a slap in the face to all cowboys fans.

Let me give you some perspective.

You think the last 20 years have been hard.

Imagine if last super bowl win was 1977

It would have been interesting but I don't think I'd have a problem with it. Since he was cut from the Cowboys, he is entitled to go anywhere he wants.

Funny, I have the opposite view. I like him even more since he retired, shared his personality. I find his broadcasting be insightful, ultimately professional and entertaining. I never got the whole he is negative to the Cowboys thing - I've just never heard it when he broadcasts. To me he just says what he sees as if the team were in any uniform.
