Twitter: Aikman: If Cowboys beat Eagles, QB1 becomes hard question

Please don't bring mindless absolutes into a nuanced discussion. Rush has not come close to hitting all his passes.. and in addition to the dropped deep balls how many INTs have been dropped? Or bailed out by penalties? I'm fine with acknowledging that Rush has done a good job.. but good lord has be been one lucky SOB. Obviously he's taken sacks.. Hell he took three just last Sunday one of which he fumbled on. And that was on just 19 dropbacks. He hasn't turned the ball over yet.. but it has not been for lack of trying..

We don't need to declare Rush flawless just because we've won these games. It's okay to be thankful for the wins, and still recognize that the other guy can do more. The two are not mutually exclusive. Maybe the defense will hold every opponent to 10 points or less t he rest of the way and we can keep winning this way.. But no sane person believes that.. and people who get paid to be right about such things and get fired if they're wrong want Dak back playing.

Mindless absolutes like ….
“ If Dak is able to play at his normal level the Cowboys still win these last 4 games only by a much larger margin”

It is an undeniable fact that Dak at his normal level guides this offense to an average of 30+ points per game. You can refute it or try and explain it away till the cows come home but you can do nothing to change it.

1, you aren't going to throw the ball all over the yard when it's obvious the other team' offense can't beat you, and 2, there was serious drive killing drops in that game.

I still say the fact that Donald had almost broken Rush in half twice in the first half, including forcing one fumble, had as much to do with them not wanting to throw it much as anything the Rams' offense was or was not doing.

Aikman has to stir the pot, no way he's serious. Reality will hit us for sure if Dak doesn't play Sunday.

Rush passed for 102 yards against the Rams

And Dak had all of 134 yards at an average of only 4.6 yards per completion with only a 48.3% completion rate with 0 td's and 1 int. people need to stop with the rush can only throw for 100 yards nonsense. He's passed for 235, 215, 223, and yes 102 all while the offense has scored at least 20+ points in 4 straight games.

It's all they have. They can't argue 4-0 vs 0-1

I know it's none sense. He ain't close to top tier and these coaches are calling more conservative plays, the dude is just doing exactly what you want him to do. I do think they will need to open things up a bit against Philly and they need to work on the red zone offense. But Rush had a 300 yard game vs the Vikings last year and I would like to see him do it again before they hand the reins back to dak.

Quick.. how many games have the Cowboys lost when the defense has held the opponent to 13 points or less? How many times in the last 2-3 seasons has the offense failed to reach 13 points with Dak at the helm. I think is realistically what people are talking about. It's not 4-0 vs 0-1.. it's struggling to get to 20 points vs almost never failing to get to 20. The obvious difference has been the defense this season. They have been great.. if they continue to be great this team is going to win 12 games no matter which QB they go with. I really believe that. I, and I think fans like me, just want to know that if need be my offense can put up more than 20 points.. Or even 30 points if need be. Until Rush shows he can do that at least a few times he's going to get side eye as far as "cementing the job." At least from me.

If Dak can't play any better than he did against Tampa hell nobody will want him back. The hope is that nonsense was a result of factors like no preseason, playing a good defense and playing with a set of receivers that absolutely failed to get open for the most part in that game. I don't think he plays like that again the rest of the season.. if he does come back and plays that way it will be time for him to snatch the pebble from Jerry's hand..

The Dakistans will eat crow sooner or later.

Apparently the new Dak-stan narrative is that we drafted Micah Parsons and hired Dan Quinn this year and our defense sucked last year because Mike Nolan was coaching…

Dak did not win a single game last year when the defense didn’t generate a TO. Rush has two this year and 1 last year.

Claiming Dak would have beat the teams Rush played by more is just another imaginary La La lane take by Dak fan boys.

If we win I don't care how many yards Dak puts up and neither should any Cowboys fan.

Just win the game.

This version of Dak would NEVER throw for just 16 times in a game though. He's got too much of an ego and wants to audible into passing plays whenever he can. Dak can't play like Rush. That's why you will see a worse version of the Cowboys offense when Dak comes back, even if they score a few more PPGs. PPG aren't everything. Nice, long, time consuming drives are the keys to victory with this roster.

I don’t think it’s about “too much of an ego”. He’s just not very bright on the football field.

1991 playoffs the Cowboys were destroyed by the Lions 38-6. Jimmy should have played Aikman sooner.

Again, if the Dallas defense in the first five games last year didn’t cede then Eagles and Panthers garbage time points in the 4th quarter when the game was out of hand (kind of like garbage state Dak in the 4th but in reverse), not only would the PPG be equivalent, Dallas defense last year would still have way more TOs.

Like I said, Dak played HORRIBLE against the Chargers, who were a heavy zone team. If not for a garbage 50 yarder to end the half (Chargers were horrible at tackling in spurts), which was a dump off to Lamb, Dak nets like 170 yards passing. People keep pretending like Dak just played bad after Denver figured them out. Nope..

Barry Sanders was untouchable that game and the Commanders OL was probably the greatest ever and the ended up smoking everybody.

No actually offense stalling out unable to score even vs weak teams is a problem. Not all on Rush but it is a problem. Are you saying if Dak put up 100 yards passing you would be ok with it? I try to be fair and expect Rush to go out and produce just as I would anyone else. Somethings he has done well and something he needs to step up and do better.
If dak put up 100 and we won,why wouldn't we be happy...it's a win.. we've seen games where he put up 300+ yards and lost..give me the win every time, imo.
