Aikman: Romo going down gave a lot of people excuses

And it also tries to ignore the fact that they didn't look good even when the quarterback was playing. Early in the season, or upon his return. At no point in 2015 did this offense look like the unit from 2014.

Funny how that worked, and meanwhile Washington actually looked like a real offense with that guy JG couldn't wait to leave town in Callahan.

From all the comments Aikman has made regarding the Cowboys season recently, it sounds like he is indicting his friend Jason Garrett more than anything else. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but from the things I've read from Aikman that is what I discern.

I read it the same way. I felt like he was talking about Garrett.

These guys are not like you and me...these are not guys that are driven by just a paycheck or the bottom line on a balance sheet. Someone like Jerry Jones has been a billionaire for longer than many fans have been alive. His motivation isn't about making a few extra dollars at this point in his life. It's meaningless when you are as old as he is...the only thing he strives for at this point is recognition and success in building a winning team.

It's easy to just build anger towards Jerry and Jason and accuse them of being greedy money driven pigs who only care about watching the bank account grow...it's harder to put yourself in the mind of a very high profile public figure and try to understand the pressure and public image and potential humiliation failure brings. These guys are driven to win for many reasons... Money is just a small part....with Jerry probably very small...at this point in his life.
Wake up!

I don't read with the degree of pessimism in Cowboy football, that you do. Being a Veteran, I know concern and attention to details...but on the same level, I see that in all that the leadership that Jason provides as well.

I don't take an additional step, although, and proclaim a feat into a functional reality for the team. This team will be solidly alright and have in place a workable relationship and role for their players,

He's not paying attention to details if he thinks his vanilla brand of football is what is best in today's salary cap league.

We need a screen game, a pick play game, a improved quick passing game, and a improved playaction game.

Being predictable with down and distance and relying on nothing but Romo being Houdini and Dez being a freak who can bring down the ball has to end.

I think we would have been 3rd pick still. Will need to look it up, but since it is a mute point, won't do it. LOL.
I don't think we will get the RUE threads of Bosa vs. Zeke like we usually get a few years after the draft.

I don't think so either. I was thinking more of that making the difference between getting our quarterback of the future or not getting him.

Coaching definitely was a big reason why we went 4-12 last year. Seemed like the coaching staff wanted to carry on with the same offense they had with Romo and Dez instead of making some adjustments to put our backups in the position to succeed. What angered me the most was the lack of gameplanning based on opponents. Yes we want a balanced offense, but when you face weak secondaries Dallas should be attacking that weakness.

Thanks, someone pointed me over to this board the other day. I thought with how obsessed I am with football/Cowboys that there is no reason for me not to be posting on this site haha.

Definitely not! This is a great and very active forum and I'm sure you're going to enjoy yourself. Just watch out, it's addictive!

Defenses would just cheat against us and we still would not take advantage of it.

What you see is what you get with the Dallas offense and I hate it. It's not 1995.

Another move that I disagree with, despite having the threat of one of the league's best offensive lines and rushing attacks, is that this staff avoids play-action passing like the plague!

That's always infuriated me!

Right, was thinking of that. We could have got Wentz and then got Henry in the 2nd.

However I am more than pleased with Elliot. But still could have got immediate D in the 2nd. Or even a QB even if a trade down.

Yes need more play action as well as slant pattern like Irvin did.

So one is not a true fan that has a different opinion, regardless of what that opinion is?
Your words, stud...

I state my own, thank you...but if a shoe fits in a circumstance, and designed as such...wear it.

So true.

If one is such an astute and knowledgeable person about scheme, plans, and applications...let's just see the stored wisdom with your sharing some of that supposed expertise with us, beyond strutting around as if actually on top of some information...unless you really knew some ****.
