Seriously, when was the last time you ever heard about this guy. It's like he's on the IR the amount of talk he gets. I think he's gone in the offseason and Burnett supplants him as the statrer at MLB.

He has been solid, but we could DEFINITELY use an upgrade.

I think you are right. Carp then assumes Burnett's role.

Two sides to that coin. No you may not hear his name when blowing up somebody, but you're not hearing his name everytime there's a broken play either.

Not a knock on you, but I don't understand why we can't accept that some guys are just really solid players. They play hard, they're where they're supposed to be, and they don't make many known mental errors.

Akin is the new Al Singleton. He's the guy everyone wants to replace, but nobody currently can beat him out.

...and here's a picture of Akin Ayodele, preparing the Elk-lodge for his grandmother's 60th birthday party...

Burnett can't stay healthy long enough to be the full time starter.
EXACTLY! I agree that Burnett would have been the starter by now if he'd stay healthy.

Akin is one of the reasons why we are good in the run defense...

we have good depth at linebacker.. this should be the last position people should be *****ing about

Get real.....all of our players are supposed to be all pro....even the backups

/sarcasm :D

Has anyone ever seen him blow a play? I think he's fine on this team. We could use more LB depth not less.

I agree. He is 8th in tackles on the team with 41 tackles and does his job. He is not a Pro Bowl player but he is not going to cost us an arm and leg to keep. It would be great to have every position filled by all pros but that is not the reality for any team. Some guys are just dependable and solid players and that is that Ayodele has been

It wouldn't surprise me given that Ayodele usually only plays 1st and 2nd downs. But I don't think Burnett is good enough on 1st and 2nd downs to get out of the nickel, nor do I think Burnett is all that good in the nickel to begin with.

I wouldn't object to Jerrah going after Lance Briggs this offseason. They have the cap room and he would fit in nicely as a 3-4 ILB since he has the size to take on blockers and is excellent in coverage. That's really one of our big problems in the pass defense, the LB's are pretty much mediocre in pass coverage.

Well put WG. I agree with you. No knock on you NextGenBoys.

I need to keep tabs on who sucks on our favorite team. Roy Williams, Marcus Spears, Anthony Henry, Bobby Carpenter, Julius Jones...am I missing anyone?

Thats a lot of sucky players to be an 11-1 team. My guess is that without a Hutch vs. Carter thread or a Romo vs. Henson thread...people need to look at something to gripe about.

:banghead:

He is on to something though...i really cant remember hearing his name at all. Which in my mind means he's not blowing his job and he's not doing anything spectacular...which i can live with.

I agree. He has a role, and he plays it well. Reminds me of the OL ... quietly doing their job.

He's where he's supposed to be and runs his assignments perfectly.

I like Akin. Nothing wrong with having a solid starter.
