Akwasi Owusu-Ansah

We are going to have rueage on the final cut down, no doubt about it. Guys like Alan Ball, who won't get any better, are in trouble. Holland is no safe bet, either.

I've always liked AOA, but he appears to be practice squad eligible, and that may be the better place for him at this point. Someone may steal him, but its not like Dallas is a safety powerhouse, so I doubt there is much interest.

I'm more worried about keeping M. Butler and McCann.

Why worry about McCann - he is terrible.

Not sure how anyone can say AOA sucks and then in the same breath say they worry about losing McCann, they are both in the same boat.

Wait...wait...wait...are you claiming AOA is some sort of "popular" player in camp? Beyond arguing what in the world that means, FWIW, all the reporters who have been attending the camps daily, they have said AOA looks "lost."

I am talking about the fans. Not the media who actually see it. I am talking about the fans who even to this day are dredging up scrimmage footage to somehow make themselves feel positive about a player who has had little impact.

Wade Phillips never claimed or penciled in AOA to be making a "significant impact." In fact, last seaason the scouting director (Citzkowski) and Jerry both alluded to the fact that they viewed AOA as a prospect project and that they factored in not counting on him in much of a role his rookie season.

Phillips and Campo raving about how book-smart he was and even though he wasn't able to practice, they were impressed with his smarts in the classroom. Then after he stepped on the field and showed less than glowing results, Campo started tapping the breaks.

In terms of the coaching staff, I haven't heard, read or seen anything from the coaching staff regarding AOA that couldn't be considered anything more than tempered praise or coachspeak. Further, it hasn't been anything more than what the coaching staff was saying about Jason Williams during his time here.
You also heard negatives about Jason Williams from Herring. They have been decidedly silent about Ansah for quite a while.

Yeah, he looked absolutely fantastic when he tried to shoulder bust Percy Harvin, failing to wrap up and allowing him to continue on down the field.

LOL, he said he was willing not good at it.

Lol.... Yeah. Just when I think I have read it all, the Zone amazes me on a whole new level.

What I'm noticing more than the craziness of this place is the arrogance by some here.

More than once posters are put down for suggesting...

1) Arkin might start
2) Nagy might start
3) Costa might start
4) Gurode might get cut/traded

Speculation about AOA fits right in. It's not as if everyone is calling him a bust after 1 year. But do I think he could get caught in a numbers game on this roster? Yeah, I do. All the above was "crazy talk" at one time too.

Some people on this site think they have the market cornered on all things football as if they couldn't possibly be wrong or learn something. Its just flat out arrogance.

Just sayin... :D

AOA is the type of draft pick that is killing this organization. There is not enough talent on this team to be saving spots for small college athletes who may or may not develop. They more likely than not turn out to be wasted picks, that have to be replaced by UDFA's. It makes no sense to me to use high to mid level draft picks on these type of players and pay them accordingly, then have un-drafted free agents playing ahead of them because they are more ready.

I wish they would just draft the best available football player, who can actually come in and play from day one. Not necessarily start, but help out the team. Players who have played the position, and know what it takes to play the game.

I can guarantee that if AOA is cut, you will never hear of him being a star anywhere in the NFL.

Just compare him and Church. Both small schools, but Church can play and has played from day one. While AOA is a project. Doesn't make sense.

I'm pretty sure he blew the tackle on their long kickoff return.

In fact, I just watched it again, and I'm positive it was him.

AOA missed the tackle on the kickoff return. he was right there but whiffed. he is not as physical as measurables would make you think.

We need to accept that sometimes the other guy just makes a play.

Has anyone blamed the kicker? That awful kick is what made it difficult for the coverage team.

What!? Are you kidding me!? You mean the other guy is trying to NOT get tackled!?!?!?

This team is BUILT on small college athletes. This team has done a GREAT job of finding small college athletes and having them turn into pro's and for that alone I give them the benefit of the doubt. If they see something in Kwasi I their instincts.

McCann has made some mistakes but he has made plays and you can't teach his kind of speed. Everyone has their pet cats. I'd keep this one over Alan Ball.

No with football players! Not with athletes.

Guys like McCann, Church, etc..... guys who get on the field from day one and make plays. It doesn't matter where they come from. As long as they can come in and play.

Am I the only one who doesn't think he looks all that great physically? :laugh2:

I haven't watched him that close but it seems like you can tell when guys are great athletes...He hasn't really shown me anything other than being a burner.

His development will be a little slower than others, but I think he can be a consistent contributor on this football team.

Yeah I can see that, but the good news is Elam and Sensabaugh should be able to hold up the fort while he's progressing.

He does not have very good balance or vision, that is for sure. We have seen that over and over again on his kickoff returns.

He might be a great athlete who can run fast for a stopwatch, but he is missing critical football tools.

He looks overwhelmed by the huge step up from small college to the NFL.
