Alabama's Henry

You haven't watched him play, the guy makes paths just as much as the O-Line does. His biggest plus is power which he uses to get to the next level.

He runs big. That doesn't last at all in the NFL. I've watched many of his games.

Not even to mention the fact that drafting a RB in the 1st round is the dumbest thing you can do in today's NFL. How is Melvin Gordon working out?

How is Todd Gurley working out? How about Lynch? How about Peterson? Chris Johnson?

Drafting an RB in the top 10, yes I agree, I would never do it. To say never draft an RB in the first round, that's dumb.

The last time I checked, a guy named Emmitt Smith was taken in the first round and I believe it worked out OK.

Reminds me of Ron Dayne. Big guy with good feet and vision but not enough burst to get to the outside or create mismatches in the NFL. I think he'll be alright, but he'll never be anything special at the next level. Definitely not a first round pick.

Peterson, Chris Johnson and Lynch were drafted in different times. That is what I'm getting at. I'm talking about right now in today's game. You don't need to draft a RB in the 1st round. You named me one guy (Gurley) drafted in 1st round as of late that has did anything.

Johnson, Lynch, and Peterson are all still productive in TODAY'S NFL. I don't care what time period it is, if you believe you're going to get the production those three gave their teams, you draft them in the first.

And I pointed out Gurley because you chose to point out Ingram. If you're going to point out one taken in the first last year, you better point out the other as well.

AD and Gurley are RBs who come into the draft once in a decade.I would consider Elliot if we traded down into the bottom of Rd 1.

don't want a Heisman winning RB on this team

Who were the Heisman Trophy winners that won a Super Bowl?

Through Super Bowl XLIV:
1) Paul Hornung (1956 - Notre Dame) - Super Bowl I with the Green Bay Packers.
2) Roger Staubach (1963 - Navy) - Super Bowls VI and XII with the Dallas Cowboys.
3) Mike Garrett (1965 - USC) - Super Bowl IV with the Kansas City Chiefs.
4) Jim Plunkett (1970 - Stanford) - Super Bowls XV and XVIII with the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders.
5) Tony Dorsett (1976 - Pittsburgh) - Super Bowl XII with the Dallas Cowboys.
6) George Rogers (1980 - South Carolina) - Super Bowl XXII with the Washington Commanders.
7) Marcus Allen (1981 - USC) - Super Bowl XVIII with the Los Angeles Raiders.
8) Desmond Howard (1991 - Michigan) - Super Bowl XXXI with the Green Bay Packers.
9) Reggie Bush (2005 - USC) - Super Bowl XLIV with the New Orleans Saints (Heisman Trophy later forfeited).

Elliot in the first with a trade down or Henry in the top of the second.
I ain't buying the BS that Henry will not be a successful RB in the NFL.
This guy will be pounding NFL defenses into submission next year.

Wasn't the greatest back but boy did I hate when we played against him. Was very physical. I think this is who Henry should aspire to be. Doubt he will be durable over the long hall.

Jacobs was only great against us for some reason, and he never had to carry the load. He and Bradshaw were a good duo for a few years. Also, Jacobs was around 260 pounds during his best years, I don't think Henry has the frame to carry that kind of weight.

I think Henry's Heisman pedigree basically ensures he gets picked in the first round, but it won't be high. He'll go in the lower end of the first, if not the top of the second.
And I think he'll have some success in the NFL IF he gets with the right team. But I don't think he'll have a long career.

Yeah it is dumb not to get a top talent at the RB position . It has worked so well at the position this year.

Absolutely dumb. You should be looking at Heisman winners and how productive they were in the NFL.

You know what other RBs won the Heisman? Eddie George, Barry Sanders, and Earl Campbell.

When the hell did we start holding RBs to championship rings? I swear, that argument seems to come up so randomly.

I was never sure about Gordon.

A lot of people did get blinded by him and I could see that but I was very wishy washy on the player.

I had him ranked in my top 5 but I would have been scared to take him.

My top 5 were:

1: Gurley

2: Yeldon

3: David Johnson

4: Gordon

5: Coleman

For the style of offense we run, I think Henry would be fantastic. He starts wearing down defenses the longer the game goes on. If we don't go rb in 1st and he's there in the 2nd, there's no way you can pass him up.
