He had a good game against OSU. Pittman ran for 85 yards but Branch had a pretty decent game. 4 solo tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 forced recovery of a Fumble. I actually thought he dominated the interior of the Ohio State OL.

He played very well against USC. SC threw for a lot of yards on Michigan but Branch anchored a run defense that only gave up 48 yards rushing the entire game.

As I would have said.

Branch was a stud in college, little games OR big games, take your choice.

The guy is 320 something and 6'6. What are guys his height @ his position suppose to weigh?

The "fat" comments are old.

I hope 21 teams before us think the same though, would be a miracle if he fell to us.

I have to agree.

I may be the only person here who watched every single Michigan game this past season and Branch did not wear down during the course of a game.

1 or 2 so-called "experts" say he looked out of shape and everyone all of a sudden questions his work ethic?

The man has been described as the biggest and most athletic NT in the college football... sure he might bust, but so can Calvin Johnson.
Even though I can't stand the team from up north,I've seen him play alot also and this guy can play and would take him in a heartbeat, he was always in the backfield.

I have watched almost every game last year and never saw the Lazy Branch I guess. I big Michigan fan, but no homer though when it comes to players. I don't know if he will pan out in NFL, but from what I saw in College, he sure seems like a stud in making for NFL.

ABQ, saw your post about how you know him. Its funny all these internet experts and guys who barely saw him couple of times in College know more than the people who saw him a lot more.

It would be no brainer to take Alan at 22, now if some where going to take him at top 5, then I would definetly think it might be too risky. But anything after top 10 pick, Alan wouldn't be risk at all, IMO.

Knock off these long layoffs between posts and get your butt back here and in the conversations.

Well, I will admit that I have a great deal of bias for this player but I can also say in my heart that what I said about him is true. I would take him with a top 10 pick because I believe in him but that's just me and you know what they say about opinions.

If he's as dumb and lazy and John Henderson supposedly was when he fell in the draft, I'll take him in a second.

:hammer:

still figuring out where this attitude problem, lazy theory about Branch has come from

Yahoo sports is where the one in this link came from, but
this is just one of several scouting sites that say about the same thing about Branch.

No doubt he dropped but he is still considered a 1st rd pick because he does have talent. It is not as if he is going to drop to the 2nd day of the draft. In the end teams will put a lot more emphisis on his production as a player and that is very good, good enough to make him a 1st rounder.

You know, this is really amazing to me. How can anybody say that this guy showed up at the combine over weight? The guy is 6-6 and he checked in at 324 lbs at the combine. Exactly how much is a DT/NT supposed to weigh at 6-6? If he came in at 314, everybody would be saying he's too weak and not strong enough.

I'm sorry, I've watched this young man play since he was a boy in his YAFL days. I have never seen, nor have I heard about him being a lazy player. Heck, I coached against teams that he played on, as a boy, and I never saw any of the lazy BS. I know his HS coach, my little sister was a cheerleader at Cibola HS. I watched this kid play his whole life and I've never seen this lazy stuff that everybody seems to talk about. Unless he's completely changed from the time he left ABQ to now, I don't buy it. He is not a brash guy. He's respectful and soft spoken. If he was anybody else and you meet him face to face, you would say that he is the kind of kid that was raised right by his parents. It's unfortunate that he is receiving this kind of pub he has. If he were there at 22, we would be crazy not to take him but he won't be there. He'll be long gone.
Very interesting info. I'd be all for him. It's worth pointing out that anywhere from 1-3 top-notch players will fall down our way. It happens every year. He's a plausible candidate for dropper.

Myself I think Branch would be a good pickup at 22, he would give Dallas a good roatation at NT with Ferguson. I think Ferguson was forced to play too many snaps this past season because we did not have a legit backup for him

The other thing you can think about if you are interested in Branch is that he can also play DE in a 34. In fact, I'm not so sure he wouldn't be a better fit there. Basically, this means that if you invested in a guy like Alan Branch, you wouldn't have to limit him to only spelling Ferguson at NT. We could get value from him at DE as well IMO.

He's 326 and your wrong. He played DE while at Michigan as well as NT. He can play NT, 1, 2 or 3 Technique DT. He can play DE in a 34. He was a Fullback in HS and on the punt return team. He was an upback. He rushed for like 300 yards and change and another 250 receiving as a Sr. Did the same thing his Jr. year. He has the feet to be able to play DE in a 34. I'm not kidding about this. He may actually project better to that position, I don't know. I thought he would have been a heck of a TE but he just kept growing. I think that eventually, NT is a great spot for him but if you wanted to look at value, he could probably play both positions until he took over NT perminantly.

Calm down brah. I know he can move around but at 320+ he has more value at as a NT. Men his size are few and far between.

Him and Fergy on the goalline at the same time would be a beautiful thing

I'm sorry. Your right, I do get excited about this young man. He's a heck of a talented football player IMO. He's a pretty amazing athlete. I agree with you. He would be a heck of a NT rotation if we were somehow able to get him.
