I am not sacrificing the talent that is Geoff Swaim for that. No way, no sir.

That's when you know fans are being unreasonable. You've got Swaim and you're pining for another.

Oh, and I refuse to get into a lengthy debate about our run game. These backs suck large. I'd double flush, jiggle the handle and start over.

Since McFadden became the main back, he's 5th in the league in rushing yards. Pick up a guy in the middle rounds who fits the scheme and can pass protect, and forget the Murray drama.

I think the Murray drama distracts people from the main point.

Of course paying him the kind of money he wanted was absurd.

But we need better than what we have to maximize what this line can do and regain what we lost in terms of identity with the run game.

You simply do not establish a run game with an unreliable back like McFadden. You just don't.

But yet we have our GM saying the opposite.

We've been able to do that this year, but running is not what wins games in the NFL.

As for next season, I don't think we're pinning our hopes on a 9th-year RB with an injury history. Wish I could be sure.

Balance is necessary. And when your run game is able to control the tempo, you win both battles

If this season has proved anything, it's that all the TOP in the world won't save you if you can't throw it more than 10 yards downfield, and can't throw it in the red zone.

Even average QBing could have had this team in the thick of things also. All this season proved is that when your QBs are not above average, you can't win in this league. It is a problem 8-10 teams have most of the time. But you cannot dismiss TOP as unimportant. Take a look at the Eagles and how they ignore it. It is about balance and a happy medium. And it often varies from game to game. One thing that makes the Patriots so successful is they can turn it on and off. One game they grind, another they use explosive plays to win.

Sound like we agree about the importance of the QB.

Great point about the Iggles. I may have to reconsider. ;)

Draft fresh legs has been said over and over again and still we don't draft fresh legs. Actually fresh legs that aren't connected to an idiot is even better. Also, Please Please don't draft a running back that has bird legs. I'd think a nice mix of some speed with some power (with brains) is better then a fellow who really runs fast but who can be tackled by my 80 year old mother or a strong wind. Dunbar might fall into that category.

This prospect would be a legitimate threat out of the backfield, could even post up at the first down marker.

Listed at 8'2."

Can you imagine the Redzone mismatches this guy could create?

It'd be like a Martellus Escobar hybrid.

We are like a minor league system for TE's. They practice here and learn the craft and then go on to make pro bowls.

It's been consistent since Parcells came here which tells me he convinced the Jones' of this. At the same time Garrett won't put out a TE over a WR unless he thinks they are complete players. Part of this is also on weak coaches who let Witten get what he wants in staying on the field for every snap.

Witten at 70 snaps a game is starting to give me a white elephant feel.

I very much disagree with that.

Witten has been on a downward slide for a while now.

His blocking has gotten progressively worse, and it was never stellar. He's a penalty-waiting-to-happen and his run-after-catch skills (ahem).

The guy's an expert in finding soft spots in a zone defense and his hands are excellent. But those two rights are not making up for a whole bunch of wrongs at this point.

This season Witten is the 68th rated TE out of 72 rated on PFF.

That shouldn't be hard to improve on.
It's a good thing you are a mod, because talk like that is going to get you run off this board. Witten is not allowed to be criticized it seems because of his great past with this franchise.

If DMC is healthy next season and has been the past 2..he will go in as the starter and do better next season....Defense and staying healthy at qb and wr will be the key....

Hyperbole run amok. Nobody has ever been above criticism. And there tons of posts to prove it.

Just because he's a mod, doesn't make any more right or wrong than the next man. He's just another poster with a wrong opinion. lol ;)

I had and still have no problem letting Murray walk. RB is not worth his asking price. The problem was the Cowboys solution. McFadden, Randle, Dunbar wasn't close to an answer.

They can put out the Gurley, Yeldon, Rawls conjecture, but they failed to pull the trigger on any. Heck they traded back in to the 7th, to take the inactive for nearly every game Swaim. Rawls was there, but nope, they felt fine at RB.

Further, Langford and the kid from USC the Ravens took where available mid draft and they didn't bite. DUMB.

Pretty much how I feel as well.

What I got from reading Breer's comments is the Cowboys completely misread the RB position in the draft. Just a bunch of excuses about how they liked 'so and so' but Team X beat them to him.

It's the same BS excuse you hear from just about every team.

"You know we really liked Russell Wilson but Seattle beat us to him."
