My understanding is that they had a firearms specialist on the set - why are THEY not the liable party?
They could probably hold some liability in a wrongful death civil suit. But Baldwin pulled the trigger. Every gun safety course I've ever attended said you treat all guns as loaded and check any gun when it's given to you. I don't see how those responsibilities go away because you're just playing pretend. "It's not my job to practice basic gun safety," is an insufficient excuse.

ALEC BALDWIN'S 'RUST'GUN THAT KILLED CINEMATOGRAPHER HAD MODIFIED TRIGGER More Embarrassment For Prosecutors

https://www.tmz.com/2023/04/21/alec-baldwin-gun-rust-shooting-trigger-modified/

Looks like y’all were just hoping Baldwin was liable, smh.
not surprising coming from someone that clearly does not know which end of the weapon the bullet comes out of

And as regards the FBI, I no longer trust them to differentiate between day and night

Bottom line is that while the trigger may have been modified, the hammer still had to be cocked for it to fire. He did that. He pointed it at a person without checking that is was loaded with blanks.
Despite all the morons defending just another hollywood jerk, he was VERY negligent

AND YOU and so many others ignore the FACT that Baldwin had taken firearm safety classes in the past

I was taught to never point a weapon at something I did not intend to harm or kill. Especially pull the trigger. Good weapons safety protocol is to also assume every weapon is loaded. Those Hollywood morons were goofing around. I don’t think Baldwin meant to murder that poor woman. Of course not. It was a terrible accident. Not sure how a live round got in there either. That said that idiot pointed a weapon at her and pulled the trigger. He is 100pct liable for that. Of course we all know why this case is being dropped.

1st rule of guns. Never, ever, under any circumstance, point a gun at someone unless you intend to shoot them for self defense.

Is that because you don’t understand the law, actual evidence, and assume and demand his guilt?

A modified, self-pulling trigger? It could be modified but it still has to pull.

It's more likely the defense attorney he hired knows this, and told him to say he never pulled the trigger.

No trigger pulls itself.

And TMZ for the win, eh?

Also, if you know about New Mexico, and Santa Fe, you know they don't want the attention this brings.

Corrupt little state out in the desert.

Prosecutors drop charges against Alec Baldwin in 'Rust' shooting. New Mexico prosecutors on Friday formally dismissed charges against actor Alec Baldwin in connection to the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of his movie "Rust" in 2021.

Some of y’all will have to find a new conspiracy theory.

TMZ reports the news. It doesn’t generate the news.

Is it not the old saying better to not speak then prove your stupidity? I would advise some here not to post.

You are one of my favorites here so I will be kind and excuse the suggestion that I don’t understand the law. Seems like you are suggesting I am somewhat simpleminded. I am brilliant actually. You don’t have to be brilliant to understand the difference between criminal and civil liability. Baldwin, who you seem to be a real fan of, likely has no criminal liability here. Someone does though because somehow a live round got in that gun. This is a slam dunk civil case though. Someone died here. This is a clear civil wrongful death lawsuit. So the family will get as much monetary compensation as possible here. Eventually. Back to Baldwin. Even though you are a big fan of his (scary since he is well known to be a dirtbag of the highest order) you have to admit that pointing a weapon at someone is beyond moronic. Criminally negligent no doubt. Pulling the trigger makes it more so. The cherry on the lawsuit is that the victim wasn’t an actor. She wasn’t in a gun fight scene. Yet Baldwin, an idiot of the highest order, pointed the weapon at her and PULLED THE TRIGGER. An astounding act of negligence even for a demented oaf like Baldwin. So yes Baldwin probably has no criminal risk here. Someone does though. Everyone involved with the production of that film will be held accountable civilly. That I am sure of. Most likely an out of court settlement. Baldwin can go back to threatening people on NY city streets.

He is a moron, but if you hand a large amount of the population a gun and tell them that it is loaded and dangerous, they will muzzle sweep people. and a large amount of that group would have their finger on the trigger while they did it. I haven't followed the case, but it sounds like he had someone that handled the weapons so that they were not supposed to be dangerous.

I am more inclined to believe he put the round in and murdered her on purpose, but without Poirot or Columbo on the case, I doubt we will ever know.

Bad deal all around.

I despite Baldwin. He is a loud mouthed loser. That said I don’t see him as a murder. I also think the average dummy would cover you when handed the gun. Finger on or near the trigger. I think a small portion of those dummies would actually pull the trigger. You have to be a real bottom feeder like Baldwin to do that.
