the trick shot video is entertaining, but it is funny to me that people reference that instead of any legit game video to anoint this guy as a PS player, let alone tony's replacement some day

I think everyone would love to see a QB develop into another Tony Romo, but I have my doubts about this guy....I will pay more attention if he actually makes the team

Well the benefit of having someone like Romo and even Orton, is that you can really take your time with a kid like this.

What is more likely than him taking over for Romo, is that we could develop him, use him as a backup instead of Orton and trade him for a quality pick. That being said, he is still a long shot to make this team, but like I said, we're not in a rush to replace Romo, so it's not like we drafted a kid and need him to start in 2 years.

He also might be looking at the Practice Squad for the year.

What interests me is..what influence will Garrettt have on him.?

He's had an enormous impact on Romo, I think good and bad. But Romo had gotten his first few years in that Parcells era and he had Parcells, Wade Wilson, Sean Payton..and others to give him his basics which turned out pretty well in Romo.

But it's pretty much just Garrett weaning him. Not sure with so much on the line this year..that Garrett has much time for him.

We'll see.

I don't think he is a long shot to make the team and we certainly have time to develop him. Like I keep saying, with his football pedigree and talent and romo to tutor him for a couple of years he will definatley be ready to take over.

Romo would have not wanted him here if he felt he wasn't worth developing.

The fact that people are calling Tanney based on his DIII production and some stupid trick shot video is just dumbfounding. The guy has done nothing to earn anything more than a shot, so predicting that he will be the QB of the future is simply pulled out of thin air and based on nothing.

This. I read that his footwork is horrible and he can't get used to the speed of the NFL. I know the footwork can probably be corrected but the other is something that he may or may not master...
Sounds like another Drew Henson to me....

He is definitely a long shot to make the 53 man roster. He might make the Practice Squad.

You can't judge a QB based only on his ability to throw the ball. There have been many prospects that had great ability to throw the ball with no defensive players on the field, but couldn't play QB in the NFL.
Romo would have not wanted him here if he felt he wasn't worth developing.
Romo? Do you think Romo is scouting other QBs for the team to sign? Come on, mayne.

He has a much better arm than Drew... even better than Romo. We'll see about the rest of his game. Maybe Garrett can actually show this guy a thing or two.

Someone reported today that Tanney is already ahead of Stephens in the pecking order. Can't wait to see him in the preseason.

Tanney looked good considering the oline,he can scramble and has a terrific arm.

Eatman tweeted earlier than Tanney reminded him of Romo circa 2003.

I doubt he even makes the team. Then to make the team, and stay as a backup, most likely a third one, for the remainder of Romo's contract is basiacally impossible in today's NFL

What are you talking about? Orton has hardly been tested, but what we have seen from him has been positive. He's one of the most serviceable backups in the NFL and there's no question he stays this year at least

He is already 26, and isnt the future. They will likely draft the future in 2014.

I have a feeling that Tanney will win the QB position. Or, should anyway.

The accuracy and numbers he has are so good ya gotta wonder what the hitch is. If its inferior talent he played against then thats the kind of numbers you'd want. No harm in crowning him, you can always take that crown back if he don't earn it. I'd take him over Orton when Romo retires for a few games at least. Less someone runs down to the store and gets a better replacement.

There's a very long list of QBs who even played in D1 that had sick accuracy and pass yard numbers that never sniffed anything at the next level.
But I wouldnot rule the out without a very hard look.
