Exactly. A league wide conspiracy would be very difficult, if not impossible to contain, and eventually a whistle blower would surface, whether out of a sense of justice, vengeance, or a payday. That said, I can't discount the possibility of either individual bias, or weak minds succumbing to outside influence, such as the theory mentioned earlier of the Patriots whispering in the officials' ears.

Some of these calls are so absolutely ridiculous that it's hard to imagine the officials actually believed they saw what they called, which brings up the other previously mentioned concept that they often assume what must have happened, even though they didn't see it with their own eyes.

Yet, as soon as someone mentions bias, some moron comes along accusing everyone of believing in a conspiracy.

Watch this in real time. The timing is off, like the umpire is a couple of beats slow to react.

Note how he doesn't reach for the flag until he sees #70 Adam Butler give Zeke a free release at the line of scrimmage, leaving Zeke uncovered.

That seem very obvious that he was waiting to see the likely result of the play.

The vast majority of these guys aren't going to sacrifice a great gig to manipulate the outcome of a game.

They know every play will be scrutinized.

I could see a case here where (just speculating) someone like Belichick tells them before game to keep an eye on tripping . Refs think "he watches a hell of a lot more tape than we do, so probably something to it"

Now they're all looking for it. One gets called.

Now this poor schlub in the video is not just looking for it, but has a previous call fresh in his head that was already called in this game.

It's a rare penalty, so it stands out even more. Now he's wondering if the Cowboys do actually have a habit of tripping ... and starts wondering how many he may have missed.

So he catches Frederick's leg go a little high but it didn't seem like a trip. However when the defender hits the ground he thinks maybe it was so he throws the flag .

There does not appear to be any threat of losing their job.

They are unionized which makes it very difficult to fire anybody.

Lol. You could see his eyes following Zeke through the wall of linemen in front of him in that clip? Guess he knew Zeke would catch the ball too on a wet day. Man, the power of suggestion is a force indeed.

Exactly, what the clown show posts is that they are smarter than is the fan that would say Amari Cooper really did catch the ball on the final drive and the refs robbed the Cowboys specifically of the call.

In reality you have two different calls that has absolutely no explanation and both were at critical times and both favored one team. Pointing that out isn't claiming a conspiracy any more than watching big Hedge Fund manipulate a small cap stock.

I couldn't tell exactly where he was looking, but he did seem to turn his head toward the Patriots player once he hit the ground, then throw the flag. It seems to me like the theory that he just assumed the player was tripped may be what happened.
