sounds like someone wanting an excuse to go late again with O Line picks. Because they are not 'shiny' enough.

I am all for Winters and the Center from Cal.

However if you have watched this teams drafts over the last 10-15 years and think we have a good success rate of drafting OGs or OTs from round 2 on...I want what you are smoking so I can be super chilled out over the weekend.

Lets see the list of olinemen we have drafted from 2000-2012 all of them except the ONE we took in the first round a couple years ago.

Matt Lehr
Char-ron Dorsey
Andre Gurode
Tyson Walter
Al Johnson
Justin Bates
Jacob Rogers
Stephen Peterman
Rob Petitti
Pat McQuistan
EJ Whitley
James Marten
Doug Free
Robert Brewster
Sam Young
David Arkin
Bill Nagy

That's 17 Names.
Of those 17 names ONE really panned out for us for a number of years in Andre Gurode. Doug Free did enough to get another contract and has went straight down hill so far that there is a legit chance he could be cut this year.

ONE out of 17 after the first round.

THAT is why even though this is a draft that has some depth at oline, even though we should be able to get some olinemen after the first round, even though there are some interesting and favorable olinemen after the first round....That one out of seventeen number is why many of us worry about this team drafting Olinemen after the first round and why even if you think we can get good linemen after the first round you should at least be a little worried about it with this team.

In terms of starting quality that you can predict right now?

Not much.

Most of the top "guard" prospects you see are projections from tackle like Pugh and Winters.

The real true guards are pretty scarce in this class. Warford is the only other one I can say has real potential to start.

Bingo. This class is not deep with true guards. You have the top two and Warford in the second round. Other than that, there are some tackles that might make it at guard and a bunch of Arkin types that need to get stronger.

It wasn't suppose to be bold just stating a fact. People are so hung up on these 2 players only look at 90% of the posts. It's Cooper and Warmack or bust basically. So if Vacarro or Austin are the pick its not gonna bother me or make me upset like some on this board. If people forgot week 17 both Dez and Miles got hurt and we had no one to step up and be a factor. So I'm cool if the pick is Austin even with the holes in the oline. Grab a guy in the 3rd draft a safety in the 2nd

I'm good with that; Hunter, too.

Tony Romo, $108 Million, no O-line....

I'm tempted to draft 4 o-line and 2 rb's...:laugh2:

I wouldn't be mad with Warmack and Jones lol. Or this Terron Armstead guy. I really want a DT though. If Richardson falls I might want him over anybody.

You would think that the percentage would be better just by random chance. Maybe if even 25% of these picks turned out to be even decent NFL quality players the o-line would be in better shape than it is now.

So why are the Cowboys so bad at choosing linemen? There has to be some reason.

i don't think anyone is saying these are the only two guards in the draft, but they are the best two in the draft. i think there are several guards who are better than what we have but if i had the chance to get the best guard i would take it. i don't think thats happening without a trade up though

I think they made a small screw up by trying to slide Nagy to IR prior to the cut down date.

If that is the only small screw up you take away from that post...we all might be in more trouble than we realize. :p: ;)

I don't think that is it at all. I think it is about priorities and people want to see the Cowboys put a priority on the Oline which they have not done lately outside of the Tyron Smith pick.

and in the same vein they have stunk up the joint for years now - it is time to fix it and make it a priority - that is the point!
