I have to admit, I'm getting a tad on the nervous side. My saving grace is Hardy hasn't signed with any one yet.

This is almost the verbatim sentiment voiced very loudly here on CZ from right around now last season.

It went something like this "I have to admit, I'm getting a tad on the nervous side. My saving grace is Melton hasn't signed with any one yet.

Remember Melton -- last year's savior?

Seems like longer they wait to sign Dez long term more they will pay... Theres some ridiculous contracts being given out. At this point just hoping for hardy.. If murray leaves I just hope it's not to philly.. If we could pull decent trade and reasonable contract for AD that would be good if Demarco leaves... He has about same window left as romo If were trying to win now.

I'm OK with what the Cowboys haven't done so far.

Color me unimpressed with what the Seahawks did... Gain an aging and expensive TE (who won't rack up anywhere near the amount of receptions, yards and TD's) and give up (by far) their best offensive linemen... And a 1st round pick.

I think there needs to be balance, the problem with the Cowboys is that in the past they overvalued players and thus overpaid them accordingly.

The moves were not fruitful, Carr is the most recent case and Dallas has been burned by such moves.

I am pleased with letting the market settle, look for value and make wise decisions that help your cap situation.

However, there are times and circumstances where pulling the trigger on a premium position may make sense but you better be right on your evaluation of the player especially if your are paying a premium for them as well.

So it is a good thing to avoid poor evaluation and overpaying for talent in free agency but you should always be open to adding premium talent if your evaluation is sound and the money is acceptable.

To be fair, Melton ended up being a great pickup. Five sacks for next to nothing, the team walked away unscathed. Those are the kind of deals they are banking on.
