1. Leighton Vander Esch - B. Not a huge value, but he's a good player at a position of need. I actually think he's more of a Will than an MLB, and his potential going from sideline to sideline and covering is scary. I heard one guy comp him to Chad Greenway and I like that comparison.

2. Connor Williams - A. The more I watch this guy, the more I like him. Awesome lateral agility, and should be a day 1 starter in our ZBS. He does get beat in pass protection, but some of those issues (he gets beat a lot by length) should be mitigated by playing guard. In a draft thin on starting lineman, we stayed put and were able to get our man.

3. Michael Gallup - A. Dude has the talent to play inside or outside and does a good job separating. Our WR situation is clear as mud right now, but I could see him starting as soon as this year.

4. Dorance Armstrong - D. I just don't get it. A small, slow edge rusher best known for his production a in 2016. We've got a crowded DE meeting room, with Tapper and Ealy basically competing for the exact same role that Armstrong is. And if you want a DE, why not get Josh Sweat?

4. Dalton Schultz - C. I understand this pick - we just lost our top 2 TEs and Stanford tight ends come into the league ready to play. But what do he do that Geoff Swaim doesn't?

5. Mike White - B. At this point, the draft board was pretty much wiped out, so I'm not going to trash the team for taking whoever. White has the talent to make it as a backup, and failing to develop backups was one of the big things that screwed us in the Romo era. Thank God we got Dak.

6. Chris Covington - C. Marinelli definitely likes his Big 10 Wills. We needed a backup LB and took a guy with NFL-caliber measurables. Whatever.

7. Cedrick Wilson - A. I could have seen this guy going in the fourth round. He's got legit outside receiver potential. Kind of like Xavier Woods last year, I think his draft spot belies his actual talent.

7. Bo Scarborough - A. He kind of reminds me of a poor man's Derrick Henry, having maybe 75% of the talent but costing a billionth of the draft capital. If he makes the team, he'll grind inside for dirt cheap.

B.....could be an A.
only pick Im not sure about is Covington but Kiper liked it.
Armstrong intrigues me...could be special.
Love those 1st 3.
Dalton Schultz will be a fan favorite...tough,smart,good football player.

Schultz comes in as the best blocker already, that should get him the majority of snaps. Don't sleep on this player. He won't "wow" us but he should be solid in the run game especially.

1. Leighton Vander Esch - C+. Biggest need, high upside, low floor. Had a mid round grade on him, but I'm optimistic I'll be proven wrong.

2. Connor Williams - A+. First round grade at a priority need position.

3. Michael Gallup - A+. Best receiver available at time. Second best player available on my board. This is where we needed to get a developmental starter and this is where we got him.

4. Dorance Armstrong - C. I see value and he's a high motor guy. I had a lower round grade on him and he may be just a depth player.

4. Dalton Schultz - B+. Ideally, he'd be picked later, but this was necessary. He was the last remaining TE I wanted.

5. Mike White - D+. I'm going to get crap for this one. Let me say, I see positive traits with this guy and my misgivings are probably on me. There's just a significant amount of negatives on my evaluation of him.

6. Chris Covington - D-. The only thing stopping me from giving this an F is that we need the depth and I haven't seen any tape of him, so I don't know how good or bad he really is.

7. Cedrick Wilson - A-. Great value pick, but I worry the receiver group is too crowded for this pick to be of any significance. I'd dock it more, but I realize it's a 7th.

7. Bo Scarborough - A+. I had a mid round grade on him. I think he can make the team and contribute. Plus, he has great measurables, so you can develop him into whatever you want on the practice squad if you don't think he can make it.

Overall Grade: B

I’ll say a B. LVE and Dorrance scratched my head. Switzer scratched my head. Liked everything else

1. A for the player, A for the selection
2, A and A
3. B and C but can upgrade once I think about it and see him in TC
4. C and F
4. B and D
5. C and C, was a D, at first didn’t like the pick, but the old theory of drafting a QB every year may apply here
6. A for the trade to get Austin.
6. C and B, becasue we needed LB depth
6. B and D becasue we did not need to go WR
7. B and C as not sure we needed to go RB and offense yet again. But then again who else was there to get.

Also an A for the trade of Switzer for Ward. Not sure if it was good or bad, but we got rid of an over abundance of a WR for a much needed DT.

Over all for the draft C.

You can add Austin to this draft class since we used a 6th to trade for him. Think that should be considered when grading the class...

I'll be honest, I kind of side stepped that one cause I don't know what to think. I've had a man crush on Austin as a player for a long time, I think he's a really talented dude that just got screwed over by Jeff Fisher, and I think he can be our new Lance Dunbar and our new Lucky Whitehead right away. The problem is that I don't know if I want to take on a $5 million contract for a bit player. I mean, $6 million a year got us Allen Hurns.

B-, maybe a C, but I’ll give them benefit of the doubt.

I can live with LVE and Gallup. Williams I really liked. Schultz? Ehhh.

Don’t get Armstrong when Sweat was on the board. Fitts, the kid from Utah, I liked better.

The LB in the 6th seems like a wasted pick.

No S and no DT. Sorry I am not buyin Heath and Frazier as potential starting Ss.

I would add the Jihad Ward for Switzer trade. - A

44th pick in the draft a couple of years at DT, a position of need, for a guy who got 40 yards in receptions for us and was superfluous with all the WRs we brought in.

Finding money in the street.

The Switzer trade and the Scarborough pick ended what was a crappy draft day on a high note.

Day 2 was awesome.

I looked into it a bit, and I think I'll be bumping my grade on the Mike White pick to a C. If I ignore that I haven't seen him throw a pass longer than my 56 yard benchmark and that he tested poorly, he'd be a late 4th round pick.

Any reason why 56 yards is the benchmark? Seems pretty specific.

A- .

Best picks for me LVE, Williams, Schultz, Wilson, Bo .

Only guys to me that were ok to me were Armstrong and Covington .
Covington was ok for the position, just just don't know the guy.

4th round blew chunks. Would have been a nice place to get a quality DT.

I think we're over supplied at DE, and may even get The Stoner back.

Schultz is a smallish blocking TE who doesn't give much as a receiver. Really? A 4th for that?

I'm hoping we go 3 WR base and move on from a 12 package base so much.

1. VanderEsch: B....Ok with this. I get it. Not thrilled. I don't get the Carpenter comparisons, though.
2. Williams: A. Love this pick. If Tyron is healthy, then I think our OL is back in a big way.
3. Gallup: A. Maybe my favorite pick in the draft.
4. Armstrong: B-...Cavanaugh said it best. If you love measureables, get Sweat...If you want production and tape, you get Armstrong. I'm not hung up on forty times. I think DEs need burst and bend. He has these things.
5. Schultz: C...I know nothing on this guy (Hogan's Heroes reference).
6. White: B...I like this guy. Intelligent with a big arm. Had several different OCs in college. Mastered all offenses he had.
7. Covington: C...again, I don't know this player.
8. Wilson: B-...Nice length...high character.
9. Scarborough A-....Bruiser with speed,

Hate not getting a DT or Safety. But you can't force picks. That's why we were so bad in the early 2000s. You take good players. We did that.

5. Mike White - D+. I'm going to get crap for this one. Let me say, I see positive traits with this guy and my misgivings are probably on me. There's just a significant amount of negatives on my evaluation of him.

Nobody is going to give you crap. Because nobody knows for sure. But personally. I like what I see in this kid. I think he is going to be great if given time and the right team.

The Cowboys might not be that team. Depending. But we'll see. I'm pretty excited about the pick.

Some big hits (Williams, Gallup, White, Wilson) and good bets (Vander Esch, Armstrong) and some jags (Covington, Schultz, Scarborough)

It's kind of a mixed bag but there are a few really good choices.

I'd give it a B grade
