We bought our HDTV in May....Finally today, DirectTV installed the HD receiver. We've had a heckuva time getting it hooked up.

I'm watching the Cowboy/Charger game replay in HD....This is the first time I've seen a game on HD! Where has it been all my life?

I'm almost in tears.

My parents somehow didn't even notice the difference right away but then after a couple days of watching HD and then turning to a regular channel they were like, "what happened to the picture?, theres no storm out!?"

But I agree, it is AMAZING.

What type of TV do you have?

I have a 720p plasma and HD looks pretty nice.

We didn't have much money to spend. We bought a Samsung 40 inch 720.

The picture is beautiful.

We wanted 1080....but some friends said that broadcasts are in 720 and the difference in negligible....We bought a bigger TV because of that.

Kind of grabs you by the short hairs don't it?

Now imagine a 60 yard long version of that at the stadium. I dare you to watch the live action. :D

Congrats on your new purchase. Enjoy.

I'd watch the Cowboys on a grainy 2 inch B/W antenna tv if that is all I had available because I love the games so much. But as I'm sure you will agree, it was a whole different level of ectasy watching the season last year in HD.

It's great when you can see the whole 30 yard slant in one picture.:D

I can't get my local channels in HD on Direct TV. Does anybody know of a sure-fire antenna system or something I can get to receive those channels in HD?
I was excited about watching the game on NFLNetwork, but it was blacked-out in my area (near Shreveport) and I had to watch it on a local (MyTv Network) station.

I have no idea why Fox is not in HD in Bryan, College Station, it is beyond frustrating.

true, you wont notice the difference between 720 and 1080 untell the screen is larger the 54 inches.

After you get the big screen and go HD, you look at that 22in tv and wonder how you could have watched football on that dinky thing all this time.

It's a beautiful thing!

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but unless you have an HD DVR, whatever you record on DVR is NOT HD when you replay it.

Anyone wanna clear this up for us?

The difference is when you look at Blu Ray movies, I have the Samsung 1080p in the family room, a thing of beauty!

But you're right though because majority of live events are only broadcast in 720p.
