i love introducing Devo to industrialists fans.
Much like Bowie showing The Velvet Underground fans what Lou Reed sounds like with
Queen B*tch, Devo showed NiN fans, Gary Newman fans what industrial pop/rock sounds like YEARS after NiN with a NiN cover
although my all time devo songs are:
- satisfaction (possibly the greatest funk riff ever)
- come back jonee (look for the tiny desk version)
- gut feeling/slap your mammy
- baby please baby
- beautiful world
i would highly suggest Dink* (another Ohio band) for industrial obscurity, and oddly enough, Marcy Playground (whom i hated because of
sex and candy but grew to love years later when i heard their perfect album Shape Shifter (as well as self titled debut album)
*you'll know Dink from their semi 90s hit Green Mind
but you'll stay for The Heroin Song:
and smother yourself in Devolishiss sounding Angels . This is what Devo would sound like right before we fully devolutionized:
