All things Stephen McGee

I personally would rather have McGee as a backup than Vince Young. And I'd rather have McGee than David Carr. And I'd rather have McGee than either Beck or Grossman.

But, that's just me.

Really over Vince Young?

Yeah. I'd rather have McGee over Vince Young.

And I'd rather have Murray over Bush.

And I'd rather have Ware over Mario Williams.

I don't know what to think, because I don't know where the staff see's him in the grand scheme of things.

I think we'll know come next April, where the Cowboys see him

We almost found out last April. I will forever contend we would have drafted Dalton in the 2nd round if he were available.

I have a tendency to agree with you. Maybe it was a red head thing, but JG really liked Dalton.

Hopefully that is a sign to come that JG won't sleep on the position, and can also evaluate it well. We really need to get out of the mentality of just hoping a guy can just be a backup.

You do know that Vince Young's driveway does not reach the street, right?

We need to see if McGee can play in this league.

If not, move on.

Romo is 32 (?). He should have about 3-5 more productive years before his arm gives out.

Now is a good time to start grooming his replacement. If McGee isn't it, then it's time to look for someone who is.

I don't want to get stuck like the post-Aikman years wandering through the desert of useless QB's.

I agree. I would love to get Matt Barkley of USC, and my sleeper pick who is quickly becoming my pet cat is that QB out of Wisconsin. That dude is going to be a good one in my book.

Bottom-line, the Pats picked up the kid from Arkansas who has loads of potential and at one time thought to be a 1st rounder if not for character issues. We need to start looking at some options, but not at the risk of not being able to build around Romo or helping out our defense. But it sure wouldn't hurt to start looking if McGee is not the answer.
