Sup Zoners....Long time reader First time poster.

Hurd,Austin, and Rector have a good chance to replace Owens,Glenn, and Crayton...no one thought a 7th pick named Marques Colston had a chance to replace Joe Horn.

Welcome to the jungle.

I'm inclined to say that we should take a serious look at a WR in the early rounds. While our young WRs have shown glimpses of "some" degree of ability, and as much as I would like to think that some of them are future starter material, no matter how hard I try...I just can't convince myself of that though, and that's why I say to pick a WR in the early rounds next month. As was pointed out in an earlier post, it's been far too long since we took a WR early in the draft, IMO.

Hurd has 5 catches, ever.

Marques Colston is a great story, but theres 100 other low round WRs who never catch more than 20 passes in a season.

I've seen Hurd, Austin, Rector et al with my own eyes and these guys are just not starting caliber NFL WRs. If they were they would already be playing and getting tons of catches. T.O. was hurt, Glenn was hurt, they didn't get out of the game much at all because they were so hard to replace.

The words calm down come to mind. :)

I like all of our players but its a greater than zero chance 1 or 2 of the aforementionned guys do not even make the team.

Sam Hurd looked very good last year.Jamaica Rector has talent.Miles Austin has talent.Remember where TO went to college,Tennessee Chattanooga.I think we have some instore talent here, and maybe we can get a good reciever at later rounds as well.We need a cornerback or safety bad.

That's exactly the way I feel (except for the CB - I say take the BPA).

The ONLY WR I'd want in the first is CJ, and that ain't gonna happen. If a WR happens to be the BPA when we pick then take him, but we don't NEED a WR. Our young talent has a lot of potential. Let's see how they do next season before worrying about our WRs.

The same was said about Rod Smith at one time. He started off on Denver's practice squad.

Sorry, but the opinion of some guy on an internet message board is useless compared to the opinion of those that are involved with football for a living. No offense.

It doesn't mean that they WILL be starting caliber one day, but 1) it's too soon to say, and 2) you aren't qualified to pass that opinion off as "Fact".

Sam Hurd is going to be a superstar in this league,he needs to beef up a lil,but he has the heart.

Are you smoking crack?

Superstars are talented enough to get playing time early in their career because of their 'big play' potential.

Hurd has to be a good special teams contributor just to make the team.

You wont find many 'Superstars' on kickoff team earlier in their career.

They are in the endzone. And not during preseason games.....

The problem is you have the Marcus Colstons that come in and do what they do. Now you have a contingent of our fans that think Rector, Hurd, or Austin can be the next Irvin/Owens. We'll need to "draft" our next Irvin/Owens. I really like Crayton but the others haven't shown enough yet to warrant any overwhelming praise. They're good role players.
