Didn't put him on the list because he will be at least ROH someday.
I honestly don't think he will, unless he has some success in big games.

My bad.....the Washington game in 83 when they came back from 20 something down on MNF he was amazing in that.

I don't know man- he will have over 35000 passing yards minimum when its all said and done and hold every Cowboys passing record by leaps and bounds. It's unfortunate he might not have a ring, but no denying his thrilling career as a Cowboy
Absolutely, the guy has been amazing from a statistical stand point, and would probably be the best QB in the history of at least 20 other franchises. But being a Cowboy, the ring is the only thing that matters at the end of the day. I'm not sure that he even has to get to that point, just win some big games when the lights are shining, he doesn't really have that HoF/RoH type moment in his career yet.
TO's a bad choice, Lett and Flozell aren't on anyone's all time greats list anywhere- but both were excellent
Great discussion topic btw! Perfect for midweek waiting! How bout some love for the late Ron Springs
Incredible game I was 11 and was awestruck. It was a MNF game and a thriller- that game-combined with the NFC Title loss to the Niners made me a Cowboys fan for life
it's incredibly sad to say- but you could argue his chance for that was three weeks ago vs Denver
Herb Scott and Cornell Green are the most under rated Cowboys of all time.
not sure if I ever saw Cornell Green play... I remember Herb, Donovan and some of that OLine however
All the Dexter Coakley jokes have made me think about this, because Dexter was a terrific football player. But we've had several non-ROH, non-HOF players that I've enjoyed watching over the years so here's a team I threw together... how do you think this team would fare? These are players I've seen play so I can't speak to the Lance Rentzel's of the world. Of course this is not a full roster, so help me fill it in!
QB1- Tony Romo
RB1- Herschel Walker
FB- Robert Newhouse
3rd Down RB- Preston Pearson
TE1-Dave LaFleur (devastating blocker and injuries derailed career, Cosbie not underrated IMO)
WR1- Terrell Owens
WR2- Tony Hill
WR3- Terry Glenn
WR4- Miles Austin
LT- Flozell Adams
G-John Gesek
C- Tom Rafferty
G-Kevin Gogan
RT- Marc Columbo
Defense:
DE- Harvey Martin (it is a crime that he is not in HOF, never mind ROH)
DT-La'Roi Glover
DT- Russell Maryland (Lett gets a lot of recognition)
DE- George Andrie (should be in ROH)
MLB- Dat Nguyen, MLB2- Randall Godfrey (Godfrey was a SAM for most of his career with Cowboys)
SLB-Dexter Coakley ,SLB2-Vinson Smith (Coakley was a WILL and the most underrated Cowboys' LB of all time is Chuck Howley, should be in the HOF)
WLB- Bruce Carter, WLB2- Darrin Smith
CB1-Dennis Thurman
CB2- Everson Walls
CB3- Cornell Green
SS- Roy Williams
FS- Michael Downs
P- Matt McBriar
K-Chris Boniol
Yeah, and that's what sucks. To this point in his career, all most people remember him for is the bad (Seattle, Washington, blown playoff games, etc...). While we recognize that it's not totally his fault, the media and opposing fans are always going to point to him and laugh. I really think that the proverbial "window" is closing, and this year might be his best opportunity to change a lot of people's minds. The guy has everything he needs to be successful: good OL, great WR corps, QB-friendly system, average-good defense backing him up, and a very weak division, and I'd even argue conference.
Forgot Tony Hill WR
I guess it depends on how you define "underrated". Underrated by Cowboys' fans or football fans in general.
