1. Penalties. Now is this on the coaches or the players? I believe it's a combination of the two, but I think it's more of the players, especially since we've had problems with penalties dating back to the Parcells Era. Do we have dumb players and/or dumb coaches? Mostly the players. Maybe Bill was right: you can't coach penalties. But why do players commit penalties? Because a lineman got beat and has to resort to poor technique and hold, or a tight end blocks in the back because he's not showing good field awareness and doesn't think of the ramifications, or an OLB goes offsides because he's not watching the ball.
2. This team does not have a head coach. It was really shown on the last play before halftime. Let's say Jimmy was our HC and Garrett was our OC. Do you think for one second that Jimmy would let Jason run that horrific play right before halftime? No chance! I blame that play ENTIRELY on Wade. 100% on Wade. If Wade had ANY leadership and head coaching ability, he would have walked over to Jason and said, "Take a knee, now." But this is our coaching staff in a nutshell. There's no accountability and no leader in Dallas.
Other thoughts:
Obviously Barren should not be on the team and should NOT start next week if Colombo isn't healthy, but that one play did not sum up the entire game. It wasn't even a close, Barron literally locked the Million Dollar Dream on Orakpo. The guy should have been playing in the UFL. Once Young and Colombo comes back healthy, Barron will be cut. I wouldn't be surprised to see Brewster get the start if Colombo and/or Young isn't healthy next week.
The penalties definitely cost us the game, because if we didn't commit those dumb penalties, then the game would have never come down to that last play!
Honorable mention:
-Buehler cannot have confidence right now and Jerry should have Matt Stover on speed dial
