If Tyron is out, move Steele to LT and pick the best available option for RT.

Despite training camp reports, we know that Steele can play.
- He started 6 games at LT last season and was good enough.
- He started 8 at RT including 2 with La'el active for the game (i.e. Steele started over La'el).
- It seems obvious they were considering benching La'el altogether.
- After Tyron's 2nd stint of missing games, they wanted Steele focused on LT in practice.
- Without Tyron's ankle issue, I think they would have kept Steele at RT over La'el for the remaining games.

I notice in one of the camp videos that Josh Ball appeared to look a little better at RT.
- It would be easier to find a RT type of veteran to sign than a swing that can play both LT and RT.

steele was a disaster at LT last year.

we need to go after a legit swing tackle. make trade if we have to. we know tyron is going to be out for at least 5 games.

I don't know. It's never ideal to change two positions to deal with one injury.

Honestly, they just need to do their homework and find a decent vet at a reasonable price. What's all that dry powder for if you won't use it when you having a glaring hole to fill?

Like who and how much are you willing to pay in draft capital and thier current team is willing to trade their all important swing tackle.

I dont think anyone here would agree he was good enough at LT.

Get a decent swing tackle and stop messing around with line continuity.

Did we learn nothing from last year?

When Steele went to LT the entire run game collapsed.

so it all depends.

Jerry in 2017 thought we were superbowl ready because of 2016, so Zeke played it smart, held out and Jerry caved in.

If Jerry is thinking we are a superbowl team, he will make a trade.

there are a couple in the market, older, but still serviceable as a back up...Ala Fisher and Peters.

otherwise we might have to trade one of the DTs or DEs for a swing tackle.....I am not necessarily saying we need to trade a high draft pick. its a backup position in the end anyway.

Martin is your option for RT and Tyler Smith is your option for LT. McGovern fills their spot if needed.

Steele played LT when he played at Texas Tech and he was good, but not great. In the pro game he’s much better at RT than LT and I think the times he’s played LT bears that out.

Could he be a one game band-aid at LT? At most. If we’re talking 2-5 games, I don’t think Steele is the answer. (And I really like Terrance Steele) I still think this team better have a better plan than Steele or even Tyler Smith as a backup LT. Tyler Smith could have a future at LT but he’s not close to ready for that yet.

Bottom Line for me: We need more OL depth than what we have today. And I will be very surprised if the team doesn’t make some kind of acquisition to shore up the swing T situation. Either waiting for cuts in early Sept or via a trade. We will see very soon.

Too late now but the intelligent move would have been Tyler at RT and McGovern or someone at LG. Both Tyron and Flozell started at RT before moving to LT. Plus you should have been able to run right at will. Steele looks backup to me.

McG was meh as a starter at LG. Him next to Biadasz ,made the left side look like garbage last year.

I'm not comfortable with any offensive lineman on this team besides Tyron protecting Dak's blind side. It would probably put Dak on edge as well.

Ordinarily, your ideas are workable, Walker -- this time isn't one of them.

Thanks for trying, though. I'm hoping for a decent backup OT to sign on.

Terence Steele was given his chance to play LT, and didn't pass muster.

Just sign Julian Davenport who can play tackle when needed

Steele was a RT for his first 3 years at Tech, moving to LT only his senior season.
The right side with him and the kid the Bills drafted (Jack Anderson) at RG was strong.
