Mature enough to overcome the current mental game mistakes that is being made during the game. Over the next month with important games in our division and on the road. Past mistakes will turn into several game loses.

We have to start separating ourselves from the rest of the teams in our division.

We are in position to have a few losses and not have them hurt us in a grand way.

We are 6-1. We can go 5-4 the rest of the way in what I would call a worse case scenario and STILL be in pretty good shape.

That is why 6-1 is 6-1 no matter how those wins came... against lesser teams or lucky wins or what have you...

Personally I think we go 6-3 the rest of the way putting us at 12-4 at the end of the regular season.

My only hope is that we learn and grow and get better... more discipline and more syncing of this offense and the defense getting better too.

Well the only way you can find that out is by if they do it or not. Is this team good enough to make it to the Superbowl? Nobody (except Patrick Crayton) knows for sure, but they are gonna have a chance..

I think they are because they have done it in Chicago, they did it against Buffalo, they did it against Miami, and against Minnesota. Mental mistakes are a part of the game, the key is limiting them and the impact they have. this team though young have a pretty good mix of veteran leadership that it won't be problem.

I wish they'd be mature enough not to have to overcome mental mistakes. Wade's gonna have to stay on'em about this.

I think that this team is one of the few that's beyond the "free agency, salary cap - shuffle". Meaning, we're one of the few teams with a lot of the same players in place for a good while now. That's a rare thing in the NFL (see New England, Indy, Pittsburgh, Philly), and usually translates into success.
Dallas is on the early side of this rare phenomena in the NFL.
Same players = unison/gelling/consistency.

Personally, and I don't say this as a fan..............Dallas may not lose again.
Not with the schedule ahead of them. Dallas is the tightest unit in the NFC as far as "players together for a while" is concerned. That means a TON in the NFL today.

That said, I'll settle for 13-3. Losing to the Pats, whattaya' gonna' do about that? I can live with that. I figure maybe a couple division loss's on the road maybe too. The Giants are gonna' be tough in their place. And we'll probably lay and egg either IN Philly or IN Washington.
Other than that, Dallas has NO BUSINESS losing to anyone else the rest of the way. And "home field" is going to be REQUIRED to get the the SB. No way we go into NY or Green Bay in January the favorites.

All the "winners" in this day and age are the teams that keep their "core" together for a decent amount of time. This Dallas team is in the infancy of just THAT! That's no wishful thinking or bias spin because I'm a die hard fan. That's a FACT. This isn't some "darling of the NFL" team like you see every year, like last years Saints. This is the real deal for Dallas fans.
We'll see............................

All the Cowboys need to do is focus on each team week by week and don't get ahead of themselfs. If they do that we have the talent to do big things this season.

I wonder if they're talented enough to continue to overcome the dreadful coaching decisions we've seen the past few weeks.

Then the title would have read "Although talented the Cowboys are"

Its also a matter of discipline- I think Wade might need to tighten things up a little.

They overcame the Bills turnovers, they overcame the Vikings turnovers, and even with all the mistakes in the Pats game, they took the lead in the 3rd quarter before the defense tired out. Yes, I think they can overcome their issues. Now, if they stop the stupid penalties and dumb turnovers, they should beat A LOT of teams.

If you want to separate yourself from your divisional foes, then beat them. The next three games are against each of our divisnal foes. Each time you beat one they will fall farther behind.

Myself I want to see some mistakes cleaned up but I think Wade is doing a great job of bringing these guys together and playing as a team. Vs minn we did have a couple of turnovers but we also cut down the penalties to 5 in that game compared to 12 the week before. I don't think Wade has to change a things in what he is doing. I love BP but even under his strict method this team had too many penalties on them so I don't think being strict on this team is going to change this issue.

The issues with penalties is that they are inconsistent. One week they have five, the next week they have twelve and then have five again, then twelve again. :bang2:

I agree and we did the same thing last season under a coach who is a disciplined HC. I want to see the penalties cleaned up as well but there is no magic cure for it. Guys got to keep working and keep trying to improve. In the meantime this group is playing as a team they are developing a good chemistry on and off the field and I personally don't want to see that change. Wade brought a feel to this team and the players are buying into it and we are currently sitting in 1st place I think more is going right than wrong.

Hm, I don't view 5-4 as the worst case scenario.

Teams which, by all accounts, we could lose to:
@ Phi, @Wsh, @NYG (only putting our away divisional games in here, but the ones at home we could just as easily lose...), vs. GB, @ Det, and @ Car.

So, really, worst case scenario would be 3-6 over the last 9, I think, and it's a very real possibility, given how our team handles the end of the season.

If you actually think this team will or could finish the remainder of the schedule at 3-6, then all I can say is you haven't been paying much attention this year. Ain't gonna happen.

Do I think they will? No.

However, I didn't think they'd finish the 2005 season with a 2-4 record, after starting 7-3, and I especially didn't see us going 1-3 in our final 4 games of the 2006 season, in which we were 8-4 heading into that stretch.

They certainly could conceivably finish 3-6, given our team's inability to finish seasons over the past few years.

Honestly, how many people thought, after we beat the Giants in New York last December, that we would not win the division? We managed.

Not the same team. Last time we started 6-1 was 1995. Put last year where it belongs in the past.

Actually I believe our lack of veteran leadership is part of the problem. We only have 7 veterans who are 30 & above on this team:

Defense:

NT Ferguson (32) on IR, OLB Ellis (32) just back/starter, CB Henry (32) injuried/starter when healthy.

On offense:

LT Adams (32) starter, WR Owens (33) starter, WR Terry Glenn (32) injuried/starter, QB Brad Johnson (37?) backup.

Here's the list of our captains as voted by the players. Usually the team captains are veterans mostly over 30:

ST - Keith Davis (27)
Defense - ILB Bradie James (27)
Offense - QB Tony Romo (27) & TE Jason Witten (25)
