Update at 11:02pm eastern - Dez did not call into the show tonight. And from the sound of things no one called Sirius to let them know why he could not come on...

Late Hits - Sirius NFL Radio - Dez

Like I said. Just a radio interview. But with the stuff floating around on Dez he has to know the microscope is on him big time about little stuff like this. He was in Boston for a visit with the Pats and could very easily still been talking football with Bill Belicheck.

So that's where someone from his camp calls Sirius, the NFL flagship station, and let's them know he's hung up and they will call back to reschedule.

That didn't happen.
-----------------------------

Stuff below was original post a like 10:05pm eastern.

I am not trying to sink the kid. And things happen.

But there is always something going with this kid when it comes to anything that is just par for the course of being a professional.

Listening to Sirius NFL Radio. Dez was supposed to be on in the first hour - 8pm est to 9pm est.

Of course he doesn't call in.

BMac made a quick comment about it and they are just waiting for him to call in for the interview.

I know it's just a radio interview. But you throw it in with all the other stuff that goes into his folder and it's just another check mark.

I have heard a lot of talk over the last week that most of the stuff on Dez being such a headache was overrated. I agree somewhat. He's not a kid who gets arrested or has drug problems.

But it does seem like he's just one of those people whose life is always involved in some kind of BS where things don't go as planned.

We all know these type of people. They are usually our friends and family. And in most cases they are not dependable.

I am rambling a bit, but I would hope you guys get my point.

By the way. I hope he does call in. I will get the interview online ASAP if he does.

If only he would sabotage himself to the end of the 1st round.

Wonder if he realizes how much money he is costing himself.

Didn't he visit New England today? Just asking.

yes he did or was suppose to;
Dez Bryant-WR- Player Apr. 8 - 7:00 pm et

Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant visited the Patriots on Thursday.

It wouldn't be unlike Bill Belichick to buck the wisdom of the crowd and select Bryant should he fall to No. 22 overall. The Pats need a down-field threat opposite Randy Moss to take over for special teamer Sam Aiken while Julian Edelman mans the slot.

I think "not dependable" is probably the most accurate description that I've read about Dez Bryant yet.

He's not a bad kid, as dc says - doesn't do drugs, get arrested, or get into fights at strip clubs - but there's always something.

Good post, dc.

That happens quite frequently.

Kid just needs to be taught about responsibility and accountability, which go hand in hand. It's clear he hasn't gotten that message.

Otherwise, not really a big deal.

I completely agree. But like you said he ain't getting busted for guns and drugs, it seems he lacks discipline and being responsible for his actions.

Anybody think with the right coach he could change?

I posted this in a thread in the draft zone...

To be blunt I think his problem is that he's as dumb as a rock.

When you can ball like he can some people around you aren't all that interested in making sure your education is top notch. And when his mom was a crackhead it's safe to assume the kid wasn't doing too much reading and homework as a youngster.

But now he's an adult. Whatever team drafts him has to willing to put in a lot of time between scheduled activities to make sure he's acting like a professional athlete. That's going to be a major task. But not something that can't be done.

With Jerry Jones I could actually see him very willing to accept that challenge if he can grab this kid at the #27 spot. If it works out he can look back in three years and Dez would be the steal of the draft.

The the entire organization can pat themselves on the back for helping out a kid from humble beginnings.

We all know he's the biggest risk-reward player in this draft.

But the reward of molding him into a highly respected man who is also a professional athlete may wind up being the real meat of this sandwich.

Does he not have an agent/manager yet? What is the deal? How hard is this?

I don't think this is the end of the world by any means for him, but after all the little things he's messed up since last fall, how can anyone be completely confident that this guy is gonna be a dependable WR in the NFL?

This is a great post.

You're right. We all know people like that. That's him. And I don't want him.

I might be wrong on this but I think his agent is D. Sanders former agent.

I think were probaly focusing too much on him b/c I think a crap team will trade back into the 1st before he falls to 27

You can title that "The T.O. Story"!

T.O. is also not the kind who gets arrested or has drug problems, but still that stuff that makes fans uneasy always seems to find him.

I don't want Dez Bryant for the same reason. I don't care about his talent. Talent-Shmalent! All that surrounds him is controversy and all you hear from him is excude after excuse.

And he's not even professional. Not showing up without word or warning to an interview is not only unprofessional, it is unacceptable, especially after he bowed out of the combine only to show up unprepared for his own scheduled pro day.

Bottom line - these types don't succeed in Dallas. the media will turn hm inot a frenzy of mass self destruction.

Pass on Dez Bryant. Please!

All of that out of a missed radio interview, huh?

If your simple minded then yeah.

If you take in the entire Dez situation right now you would understand.

Yup.... A radio interview. Maybe the kid's agent over booked him. Maybe he was still meeting with the Patriots. Now if a story came out that he walked out on Coach Bilichick to call a radio station people would be calling him unprofessional. How could you walk out on a team that may draft you to call a Disc Jockey on the radio for an interview?

He is in a position where he cant win. And people have their minds made up about him. It wont change.

But at least it funny to hear people on hear ripping him.

Or someone from his camp calls Sirius and says we have to reschedule and then the on air hosts relay that info to the people who were listening for three hours not knowing if he was going to call in or not.

It's obvious from the audio that his camp just ditched the interview.

The one host even took a crack at him towards the end of the show which is why I included the audio.

So now the people that say he has a history of things surrounding him being unprofessional are the bad guys? lol.

And I went out of my way not to rip him.

I'm sure the guy is in pretty high demand for interviews, especially when you consider the controversy he has surrounding him.

Not simple minded, just think that this particular instance isn't that big of a deal. I mean, for example, how many players have stood up Jim Rome for interviews. I could rattle off 5-10 right now and I hardly listen to his show.

Sure, he has some question marks, but is this really that big of a deal? What if he makes up the interview tomorrow or Monday?
